Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@Escaped_Goat it's an Aucma one, but I actually found the instructions! They were in the pile of papers from 2 years ago. These days at least I have the piles separate for each year and know where the piles are. I really need to get into those piles and reduce /file /dispose of them...but it's such a big task.

I wasn't going to mention the bread again, seeing as you can't have any...but it's kind of you to ask.

@NatureLover Yay! Glad you found them! Feel free to talk bread. I only just got my papers done in early March. Took me forever but was good to get them done before my surgery.

Burnt out a shredder in the sorting process 😂 😂

Oh no for the burnt out shredder! @Escaped_Goat

Does this mean you are up to date with all the paperwork in your life? 😮 I am gobsmacked. That is a huge accomplishment! I honestly don't know anyone who can say that.

Thanks for always being so encouraging. I'll let you know how the bread works out.

@NatureLover I guess I am. I don't have a lot of paperwork now.

How's the bread going?

I did my grocery order for collection tomorrow. Cleaned my tiny kitchen. Watched Netflix. Ate healthy so far. Realised I use far too many cleaning cloths every week... 😂 😂 Then realised I own too many cleaning cloths because I've never run out!!

Haha! You can't own too many cleaning cloths. I counted mine and I have 122 face washers, all nicely folded on the shelf in colour order! Hopefully that makes you feel better 😄

It sounds like you've had a productive day, well done. So have I. The bread is nearly ready...it smells a bit garlicky as I added the garlic granules.

@NatureLover Oh that sounds perfect.. colour coded. All folded the same way I hope!

When I was due for my surgery and the booklet said I'd need help with things like laundry I freaked out a little because nobody can fold the way I fold so I'd either have to teach someone or have them bring it to me and let me fold it. 😂 😂 Turns out the virus happened and I had to fold it myself anyway. 😁

Garlicky bread sounds divine! Enjoy!

@Escaped_Goat Yes, all the cloths are folded exactly the same way and pointing in the same direction, with their fold to the left 😄 If my health or other things feel out of control, at least I can control my cloths! I can see you understand how important folding is 😄

The bread tasted yummy but was disappointingly flat - it didn't rise to the top of the tin. I used a different yeast as the sachets weren't available...maybe that's why? It was still nice and soft inside. I've never used the proper breadmaking flour as I've never wanted to spend the extra money, but maybe I'll try it once it becomes available again, and if they have smaller packets of it.

I am happy to see some laughing smilies in your message...I hope that maybe means you've ended up having a slightly better day today?

@NatureLover I have had a slightly better day. Thank you!

It's definitely all about the folding. I folded some sheets and towels for my daughter-in-law once and now she folds the towels that way. She hasn't mastered the sheets yet.

I've never used the fancy flour.. blame the yeast. I made some a couple of months ago and the yeast was expired so I added a bit extra but it turned out I didn't need to. 😂

Apparently you can't rely on yeast no matter what!

@Escaped_Goat I'm happy to hear your day was a bit better. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better again.

I see you are the Expert Folder in your family 🙂

I'm guessing your bread rose over the top of the tin? Did it make a mess? Thanks for the cautionary tale...I was thinking of adding extra next time, but maybe not!

@NatureLover It didn't go over but it was a very tall loaf. Pressed right up tight against the lid of the bread machine. It was a great loaf though texture wise.

You can always have yummy garlicky toast if yours is a bit soft or cheese toasties... yummy!
