The website I have resigned from

The website I have resigned from

I have mentioned this problem a few times - but now I have finally reached a stage where I have done the best for myself - and it feels horrible

Long story short - this site has started talking about MMJ all the time - and the people posting into the site has dropped

I am against the use of MMJ - it's just another name for MJ - and after I had resigned nothing happened - so I mentioned this to a few people - just that I was leaving - and finally - the manager I had posted to got back to me

So he took me off being a Support Member telling me not to say bad things -

I posted back telling him I was against the use of MJ and I wanted to be taken off the member list -

This happened

I spoke to my doctor about this yesterday and he told me it was essential to get out of a site advocating MJ - this could risk my own medication - and today - I spoke to the organisation that is funded to take care of my domestic help and drivers - and she told me I could lose my funding if I was found to be involved with anything to do with the distribution or advertising of MJ

It has left a poisonous taste in my mouth - my message to the manager I had resigned to was deleted from the personal messages - and I was told I should have got back to him - or the other manager who told me last week to "Go away and leave her alone"

So I had left some private messages with other members - only that I was leaving because of the MJ

It's horrible - but we all have to take care of ourselves in the end - and this site used to be really great - I could be on-line for hours there at times - but now - well their loss is our gain

I really like it here - I feel it is a well-moderated site and I am with people I do understand

Sorry about harping on - but now I have opened this - and prepared for comments

Of course - I am grieving

Hi @Decadian,

it was wrong the way the management of the website treated you. No thanks for all your service; just disrespect and hostility. I can understand how this would have made you feel. But it is their loss, believe me.

I have been in similar situations in the past and as time goes on, it does get a lot easier. The memory of that website will sink into oblivion and new interests will occupy you.

In the past, when I worked in my previous profession, I found a lot of my colleagues were sexist, racist and homophobic. I hid my true beliefs and refrained from criticising them. So.... I mean, they probably thought that I was in agreement with them.

When I look back now, I think 'wow... I managed to become one of them.' But I never really did fit in and I hated my job, anyway. But I functioned like that for eons.

What kind of person am I? It does worry me that I could subvert my true self for so long that it just became normal. I could lead a double life, so to speak, and still sleep well at night! Is that normal?

I wonder if this is part of having an MI or if this happens to a lot of people. You can suckered in by a certain work culture and then to keep the peace, you just go with the flow.

A few times I tried to stick up for myself, when things got personal - like blatant verbal sexual harassment, but the others there just laughed at me. I saw how difficult my life would be if I didn't pretend to be like everyone else.

Oh, well, I am out of all that now.

Hi @Sahara

Learning when to tell a lie and keep a secret is a part of growing more mature. We can't be 100% honest - life in a social setting would become untenable

Having two different opinions on the subject is perfectly okay - for the want of better knowledge I believe in both Darwinism and Creationism - they are completely contradictory -

What kind of person are you - or were you?

You were learning - that's not easy - we have to learn to fit in and part of that is keeping our trap shut or being though a big-mouth - so we can be either at times

What I learned reading Carl Jung was that when we are in a community were tend to believe what the group believes - and maybe we don't grow intellectually doing that - but people who tend to spend time with groups of people who enpand the mind with different and challenging subjects do grow intellectualy

Yes - that website I left is learning - there is not much happening there - it's lost its most influential members - how long it will last is something I can't see

But I am so totally over it - this is the 3rd site/group I have been in that has done this - the two I lewft before this collapsed - Maybe they were going to anyway

You're okay @Sahara - I enjoy reading what you write
