The website I have resigned from

The website I have resigned from

I have mentioned this problem a few times - but now I have finally reached a stage where I have done the best for myself - and it feels horrible

Long story short - this site has started talking about MMJ all the time - and the people posting into the site has dropped

I am against the use of MMJ - it's just another name for MJ - and after I had resigned nothing happened - so I mentioned this to a few people - just that I was leaving - and finally - the manager I had posted to got back to me

So he took me off being a Support Member telling me not to say bad things -

I posted back telling him I was against the use of MJ and I wanted to be taken off the member list -

This happened

I spoke to my doctor about this yesterday and he told me it was essential to get out of a site advocating MJ - this could risk my own medication - and today - I spoke to the organisation that is funded to take care of my domestic help and drivers - and she told me I could lose my funding if I was found to be involved with anything to do with the distribution or advertising of MJ

It has left a poisonous taste in my mouth - my message to the manager I had resigned to was deleted from the personal messages - and I was told I should have got back to him - or the other manager who told me last week to "Go away and leave her alone"

So I had left some private messages with other members - only that I was leaving because of the MJ

It's horrible - but we all have to take care of ourselves in the end - and this site used to be really great - I could be on-line for hours there at times - but now - well their loss is our gain

I really like it here - I feel it is a well-moderated site and I am with people I do understand

Sorry about harping on - but now I have opened this - and prepared for comments

Of course - I am grieving

@Decadian

Sorry for my ignorance - but what is MMJ (MJ)??

Hi Sadgirl

MJ - is marijuana - and

MMJ is medical marijuana

I knew I could get into trouble with my medication if I stayed in that website but only learned this morning that I could lose my funding

btw - it was an extremely reputable website - but it is fast going downhill

Hi @BlueBay

I can't tell you the name of the website I resigned from but it is in the United States

It wasn't Beyond Blue

I thought that was for depressed people - so that must be very hard - it must be hard to have that happen

One of the things I think about is how busy people are sometimes - I save calling Life Line to during the day because they are so flat out busy during the night -

I don't know why that happened to you - but it must have been incredibly sad for you when that happened and I am glad I met you here

btw - the way that site in the States tried to treat me has given me a headache - it was very hard - it was a huge part of my life

Re: The website I have resigned from

big hugs @Decadian I had that too but in real life not on the net had to stop being friends with certain people and even family because of their use of MJ it's hard because I really loved these people but if someone is doing something that is wrong we tell them and if we get a negative response you have no chose then to move on. there is medical evidence of the dangers of the stuff.

Reddit. I'm not going to even check with you because I know. Seriously the mental health sub-reddits on that site are dangerous. And the mods treat everyone like crap if even so much as offer a sensible opinion. And yes MMJ is apparently the next block buster medication that big pharma is trying to ban so you should just stop your medication now. It's all a big conspiracy theory that everyone knows is true so don't argue with the herd.

I wouldn't really count it as a loss.

Re: The website I have resigned from

Thanks @hope77

I understand what you mean by seeing people change when they use marijuana - I had a man in my life for 9 years - and it's nearly nearly 16 years now since I saw him - I realised he had changed into a completely different person with the continued use of marijuana - and I guess there are different reasons for getting past using it socially or occasionally - to the stage when a person is addicted - and it becomes their most important reason to be

I am over him now - but breaking up with him was hard - and I am against the use of MJ for medical reasons - though I have no objection to recreational use

People change when they use it - and it is horrible to see some one I love waste away - and change into a different person

I do know what it's like @hope77 - it is incredibly sad

And @mrkotter - I agree with you regarding the situation in the States

Re: The website I have resigned from

had first-hand experience myself saw a very healthy 19-year-old boy go from an intelligent young man to a year later being in a hospital with psychosis. lost his job and the impact on his parents was huge. another young man I knew was on it for two years became MI and committed suicide. had enough of the lies about it. although the medical use of it is an exception

Re: The website I have resigned from

I hope that the medical use of marijuana is free from these problems @hope77

People have said there are no documents cases of people dying from an OD - but what about the suicides -

They are sad stories - it is really hard to know this

My son (deceased) was well on the way to become an alcoholic at 16 - his death was not alcohol related but his abuse of alcohol was what put him into Juvenile Detention

And - alcohol is legal - and it is harder to get of alcohol than other drugs - anyway - this is what my doctor told me

I am so sorry about those two young men in your life

@Decadian. Sorry you had to leave a sight you enjoyed working on. But you have done what is right.
some of us on this forum may self medicate & we try not to judge. We try to point the way to healthier Mental health.
Today. I am 8 weeks with no alcohol. I used alcohol to numb what I was feeling and of course it doesn't work forever, so I got sicker.
sometimes I struggle with wanting a drink buttheb I know I have ssomething coming up I need to focus on and deal with.
Ive seen too many people in my past who had psychotic episodes from Marijuana. I've seen those people come into my old work stoned - but couldn't figure out why they were sick. Marijuana for pain management in the right people-good. The new liquid marijuana for epilepsy and other brain condition - brilliant.

Re: The website I have resigned from

Hi @utopia

Congratulations on being 8 weeks sober - that is a good start

I have been told that the active component of marijuana has been removed - but to me that means that the chemical that relieves pain has been removed too - still - if people get relief from pain then that is a good thing - just as trials have proved that it really does help people epilepsy get good results - particularly children

Different things work for different people I guess - but it must be a really hard struggle getting off alcohol

But some of us have joined up with our own small group - and I have this website - this is a much better place to be

And keep up the good work
