You most definitely did challenge a narcissistic ahole @Faith-and-Hope . He's completely underestimated you. I'm so glad you left him Faith, and that when its your time to die your kids won't be weeping for your life, and the years of suffering with him, but will cry because they miss you and want more time to spend with you.
I was talking to one of my aunts on my fathers side and she was saying that our fathers selfishness, his anger and tantrums and it's all about me mindset was very visible and obvious from a young age. She said she regrets never saying to Mum that she was too good for him, and never deserved him. In the weeks before Mum died this Monday I had spent my psychiatry sessions talking about my father's abusive personality....I think NPD is a generous assessment he would also meet the criteria for anti-social personality disorder and sociopathy. I was expressing how I can't understand that compared to some people his family background and trauma is on the mild to moderate side in terms of how horrific it can get for some. But Dr Kindness said: "you have to realise Corny, it is about brain structure. Not brain function. It is very hard if not impossible for psychiatry to change brain structure". We never really stood a chance. My psychiatrist is a Christian, and despite that, he said that people like my father and his best friend should never have been born, they have to be got rid of somehow, or locked up in a gated community for the rest of their life. He specialised in forensic psychiatry and worked in prisons until it was a paedophile that broke him and he had to give forensics up. It was a relief to know that even a religious/spiritual, kind and gentle man could see my side and not make me feel like a psycho for wishing people like that to be taken off the streets.
I'd be very surprised if your husband could ever change. He's probably re-partnered with a person with similar traits. How else could it possibly work? they must be similar on the inside, and their values and sense of self is greedy and selfish.
Can the legals still progress during lock downs or are all courts and lawyering cancelled until further notice?
Sydney may go into a harder lockdown.....I hope we can still have some sort of service for Mum. It's very isolating I can't visit my auntie for exercising for a walk in the park. Glady's is cracking down, I can only move 5km and have to register my singles buddy. I took my PRN on Thursday night and got 9 hours, didn't take it last night but still got 10 hours sleep, it must have been in my bloodstream for 2 days. My apartment smells and looks like a florist and my closest friends have been really sweet to me sending me gifts and support. We will do memorial books for everyone that couldn't come to the funeral and send them out. I hope that the end of Semester isn't too tough going with lots of assignments for you. I was hoping to transfer to Mum's Uni for Semester 1, 2022.......but I just don't know how I will cope, with the stress of the estate as well. I have no resilience anymore. Corny
