What are the benefits of going to hospital?

What are the benefits of going to hospital?

Hi All,

did you ever do voluntary admission? What were the benefits for you? What were the down sides? How did it interfere with your life? Would you do it again?

Did you actually receive more support than on the outside world and how were you supported after the stay?

Did you ever attend a day program? What is that like? Did it suit you being an outpatient?

I will have to make some changes in my life soon and I am scared so I would really appreciate any input.

Thank you.

Re: What are the benefits of going to hospital?

Hello All,

Decision made. Not going to hospital at this point in time. I won't need to go through a med change at the moment.

I visited the hospital today and looked at the schedules and had a good look at everything. I know that I am safe at the moment. I found the amount of group sessions overwhelming. I find group sessions overwhelming full stop.

I am not ruling it out for the future, but as long as I feel safe at home I will try to continue staying in my regular schedule and seek treatment along the way. I think I need to take control of my own well being and push myself a little bit more. I have learned enough theory, it's time to apply it.

My best friend said to me yesterday: I'm not telling you that you are strong enough, just let it go.
