Sounds like you're doing a good job of it @Former-Member. Just keep going ......baby steps ...... onwards, upwards.
I have an in-law family, as gorgeous as Greek people can be, who were damaged by war-torn relationships and terrible personal losses, as so many of that generation were, and they didn't know how to respect boundaries and understand their own emotional inner worlds. They have had to re-learn how to be Greek in that regard .... but some of them never really will. They are the ones you have to be careful with, because they don't know how to be careful enough with you ...... they don't even know how to be careful enough with themselves.
You need boundaries with people like that, and it sounds like you were born to people like that, and married one too. Remember, for your own self-respect, to be polite towards them, (assuming you feel up to it of course), but you don't actually owe them anything else at all !!
A powerful lesson I have learned is that respect in relationships has to be earned, and if they haven't earned yours, you are not obliged to give it beyond the same courtesy you would show anybody else. It becomes a new freedom to realise that you only need to be polite. Draw love from surrogate relationships instead. Find friends who can be like sisters to you. Learn to be your own mother, and be sorry that your mother couldn't do that for you, beyond supplying the basics of life ..... Plant your own garden.
And be well.
Heal ...... gently as you go ....... and be well.
