Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Former-Member and All,
Great to read all your posts and support for each other. Just a friendly reminder to not mention any medications or supplements by the brand name or generic name because we can't give specific treatment advice here on Sane. A general summary of what has helped you with a specific condition is ok, just don't mention a brand name of medication.
Thanks so much,
Frog

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Former-Member
I won't take the nerve medication either - possible unrequired side fx - also with the anti-inflamatories - I am dangerously allerigic to them - aniphylaxis - I have pain tablets but with the sciatica the flash of pain down my leg is over before I can reach for the light - it just the firey moment of hell I am sure people suffer worse than I do
My slow release medication probably covers a lot of it - and it doesn't happen often.
Last night I woke up scratching my mozzie bites into bloody little spots on my arms and legs - my the cream I use to moisturise my skin eased the itch - then I remembered I had put sun screen on during the day - not a good idea to sleep with that stuff on -
It's amazing what I am allergic too - and while I am on the subject of irritating things - my ant collection got into my kitchen sink yesterday and they were searching everywhere around the benches - I have to put out ant bait traps
I live in the sand belt with hydraphobic soil and ants' nest everywhere - they hang around my kitchen sink in summer but that is nothing - where I lived before this the building was full of ants - they would come in the bedroom windown, the front door - ran down one whole wall from window to window and there was nothing I could to do get rid of them - but here - I can
Enough ranting - I am itchy today -
Sorry about that

Re: Sleeping too much
Thanks @Former-Member
I missed this post - but I am careful not to mention any names of the medication or suppliments I take - I have been red-lighted enough to have learned this - and I think this is good
Sometimes I wonder a bit why certain words get a red-light - but I am sure there is a good reason for it - usually I have used a word that has nothing to do with what it means alone but is part of the sentence I have written
Still - what I want to say is something I have been thinking about a lot lately - I was in a very reputable website in the United States - and there we could not talk about suicide or anything to do with the subject. True - the site was not set up for this - but I found it unkind - people would be banned from the site if they did not take the managers' strict instructions not to discuss this vital subject
Here people can and for this I am so grateful - although I do not have any SI or SH myself I am glad people can talk about this and I have suffered enough earlier in my life to know the terrible despair that can drive people this far - and the stigma attached
It's New Years Eve - and I feel a great time to mention this subject - how glad I am to have found this site - how glad I am that it is well moderated and how glad I am that people can discuss what was a taboo subject where I was a support member for so long
Thanks Frog

Re: Sleeping too much
I don't recommend antiinflammatory medications because of all the well publicised side affects (and personally how they aggrivate my asthma and reflux), but what i was meaning for you guys was an antiinflammatory diet and lifestyle (organic unprocessed mostly vegies etc) Guess slow release pain medication does have an anti flammatory affect.
Mozzie bite itchy is so irritating. Have you tried ice? An allergy tablet? SodiBic paste or a smear of good old vicks? All these help me (when I remember self care). I also use a plug in mozzie zapper l. I get that you can't spray. When I was in PNG the mosquatoe nets at night were great. Don't the screens work? I don't have full screens but close up shop just before sunset.
Bit of a bother your ant invasion - sounds like they're going for the water. Can you plug up their entry holes with bluetak or something? I'd rather ants than cockroaches. Didn't know you had an ant collection, what type of ants? Can you stop them escaping?
I like 'ranting' or 'prattling on' on the forums (when I can concentrate enough to put the pieces together), its so real. Just be you Dec xox

Re: Sleeping too much
It was nice to hear my son' reaction to the bathroom / laundry reno work. I was waiting for it, he said "WOW, THIS IS AN IMPROVEMENT! I REALLY LIKE IT" So nice to hear it from someone who knows. Couldn't tackle the Nth Wall problem yet but got lino finished and it does look better, easier to clean too. I have made big changes there, the back steps and the garden this last year.
I think its good to pat ourselves on the back for the achievements of the last year, at the same time we plan our year ahead. "Without reward its hard to press on" Kind of a mindfulness thing I guess, NOTICING, were often so down on ourselves all we think about is the bad we need to change and not the food that is. I have learned too that if we are like this with ourselves, well probably be just as hard on those around us. So, here's to all the good stuff we did accomplish this last year.

Geez @Former-Member
That is so funny I am laughing - my ant collection is the nests that are everywhere outside - this sandy soil attracts them and I have tried just about everything and got some ant bait traps yesterday. I don't know how they are getting in -
One thing they don't like is cinnamon and I think I used it all up last season
I have screens - but I got mozzie bites down at my dds place when we were eating outside - could have used the spray on the skin but that makes me itch too - I have bites on my exposed skin that could have healed now if I wasn't one of those people who scratch in their sleep - the skin cream worked though
I'm prattling too - and yes - I eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegies - I like raw food

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi Ladies
Its lovely just reading today.
Contemplating the bumps and bruises of this last month. It has been a very hard month for me. My feelings and mood have been unstable and I am being good and taking meds.
I am at a bit of a loss for words, but like "hearing" your prattle.

Re: Sleeping too much
Hi my ladies ... 🤗❤️💕
Vinegar is good for neutralising mozzie bites ,,,, And ants hate talcum powder, so anything that works like that ie cornflower, baking soda, is good ,... they must hate it all over their little feet .... lol .... but it is more likely that they need a snow-plough to make their way through it, and the baking powder, or worse, bicarb soda, would be hard to deal with for the chemical makeup of the stuff ...
