Re: Sleeping too much
Hi @Former-Member. That questionnaire is daunting. I've done it three times in three years. Once at home and twice in the office. It came up similar all three times except there has been one anomaly that has happened which I think is due to the questions being asked. I've never rated highly on the fear of abandonment but it is one of my biggest schemas. The rest came out as you would expect.
The only reason I have a formal diagnosis is because of all my hospital admissions and the community mental health team. My therapist wasn't much for a diagnosis and neither was my last psychologist who I think thought my diagnosis got in the way of therapy. When I reconnected with my therapist we did one session where we just pulled my diagnosis apart into bits I could deal with emotionally. I am becoming less phased with it these days but it still bites me sometimes.
You seem amazingly insightful and thoughtful @Former-Member to find out what parts you contributed to an argument. Good for you. I think this and your motivation to deal with things will take you a long way. Apparently I have the insight, it's the what I do with it that's my downfall. I told my last psychologist when I met her "please don't be impressed by anything I say, just by what I actually do to change".
Best of luck with your paperwork. Just go with your gut and try not to overthink it was the advice given to me.
@Faith-and-Hope. I've been pondering whether to write this or not as I didn't want to make excuses for myself but I wanted you to understand a bit better what happens for me. Today has been a case where I needed outside intervention to sort my brain. When I'm at this point I lose the ability to gauge anything as everything holds the same intensity and emotions are beating logic. I had also played mind games with myself in that I wasn't allowed to feel crappy as I had just come out of hospital. The psychologist made me realise that the things that happened this week and my hospital visit were not related and that it was ok to feel crappy and it was ok to find solutions - that feeling crappy didn't mean I couldn't then find solutions. I had got so wound up and confused.
Also Mum last night gave me lists of all the things I was meant to be doing before Christmas and suddenly everything had the same urgency and no way for my brain to cope. All I knew at that point was how to chemically switch it off. All morning I had got to the too full, can't make a decision or prioritise battle so my go to solution (chemically switch off) was causing increased intensity. Anyway long long story short sometimes it's beyond my ability to break down what seems like simple logical tasks into manageable ones. I guess this is why I have DPD and BPD next to my name. I hope this helps you understand how sometimes small things escalate so quickly. But I'm still 🏊♀️
@TAB way to go on beginning your climb out again too. Step by step apparently is the way to go. I haven't got far with the steps yet though 😉

..and you are studying @Former-Member so that's gotta be something good

Re: Sleeping too much
I was a bit loathed to write that last line re diagnosis @TAB to tell the truth but then I figured this is some of the reasons they tell me I have those letters. I get confused about it all still too. The psych last time told me I don't have depression anymore so go figure. I guess it's best just said that sometimes life sucks the logic out of us and it's bloomn impossible to get out of the hole we are in and our brains don't cooperate. And studying is a bit of an exaggeration but I'm going to class and not quite got to the homework yet as that has been in the couldron with everything else being mixed around. Its only one subject and I haven't given up on it. Luckily most the assessment is participation in group work which is ok for me.
Good luck getting going. Have faith @TAB. It will happen, just maybe not in the time we want it to is my latest theory. 💜😊

Re: Sleeping too much
Well, you enrolled, and you are going, and more than that it sounds, so that's an Achievement. At the very least, it's structure and getting you out of the house, also a huge Distraction, and meeting/interacting people etc @Former-Member I'd say lot's of 'ticks' there ..seems when brain is left to self, it comes up with it's own amusements lol and they are not necessarily a good thing well re me anyway

Re: Sleeping too much
Logic - aaarrrggghhh!!!! I get how frustrating it can be when you need things broken down into smaller parts. This helps me too & I don't have those letters after my name.
Diagnosis can be a help and a hindrance.
Just keep going. You are doing really well.
