Re: Sleeping too much

Aww Faith-and-Hope your day sounded a bit like mine. But I have to say good one with finding your daughters weak spot!
I have to do it with my eldest.
I hope tonight you settle into better rest without having to worry to much about hubby's stuff.
Maybe a smudge cleanse to clear out negative energy he has left in house, car anywhere!! 😜

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member. I notice a few things when I'm sliding into my vortex of depression:
*I'm not aware of my feelings - can't label them
*extra sensitive to the little things that don't really matter (when I'm well)
*quick to get angry & I tend to yell a bit
*restless - not sure what I want or need but just now something is wrong.
I still have moments when I feel myself sliding into my vortex.
That's when I read the notes I wrote in hospital - the positive and negative
I re-read the handouts the hospital gave me on stress management, depression and anxiety. Some CBT & ACT handouts.
I give myself permission to spend a day in bed. (Just one day)
I talk to my psychologist, psychiatrist or gp.
I come on line here & seek advice or re-read posts.
If I'm not to far down the vortex - then I can still post on here - trying to help others and not focus on my stuff.
I reward myself - even if just for having a shower.
I try and think of things I'm grateful for that day.
I try and be helpful / useful to others - it lifts ny spirits - but only if I'm not too far down the vortex. Otherwise I can obly focus on me.
Relaxation, breathing, mindfulness.

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member. Sometimes I feel a bit guilty or bragging or wrong to post my good luck with my recovery - because some here have been trying here so long & their recovery may be harder / slower than mine. Since going to hospital in May, I've just been so lucky to get the right soecialists for me.
And I want everyone to have that same opportunity / luck.
I want everyone to heal or to live the best lives they can.
And I hope that people see my posts for what they are meant to represent - HOPE.

Re: Sleeping too much

@utopia I can identify with a fair few on that list. Do you ever feel the too high one and it feels eerie like the calm before the storm?

Re: Sleeping too much

@Former-Member .... I think we were typing at the same time before .... 😊

As you move forward your self-awareness will increase as well ..... I think you will start to recognise little signs in yourself that tell you you're not 100%, and you will have the head knowledge as much as reflection on past episodes to know that the percentage is likely to keep falling from there if you don't start taking restorative or evasive action ....

I've got an image of a car in my head (safety pod ... 😊) ..... and if that car is driving in ordinary roads. everything is cool .....

If the driver is tired, they need to concentrate harder, or stop for a coffee, or put the trip off for another day ....

If the roads are wet, or winding, y'gotta slow down .....

If your driving amongst jack-asses, pull over and let them get the h*ll out of your way and preferably off your strip of road ....

That analogy can apply to daily life, and the people around you. It will take time to develop that mindfulness, or awareness, and fine-tune .... might seem scary, but so did learning to drive a car at one point in your life ....

Hope that helps ..... but try not to over-think it .... it's still early days from where you were a couple of weeks ago .... and this stuff will gently start to fall into place as you learn to trust yourself again .....

As you said, there are others ahead of you on the path .... keep looking to their example.

"Some days are diamond, some days are stone .... " but stones are good too .... 😊 .... skip 'em over water .... play hop-scotch .... line the garden beds .... lol ....
