Dealing with intrusive thoughts - my struggle!

Dealing with intrusive thoughts - my struggle!

Edit: This has evolved to become a vent thread and supportive thread. Everyone is welcome to come, vent. say hello, and especially seek support with their intrusive thoughts.

--

I've been newly diagnosed with GAD, depression and OCD. I'm in my mid 30s and have been dealing with this stuff my entire adult life. The tipping point was severe post natal depression that I almost didn't survive. I'm getting help for me, but also because I don't want my kid to pick up my issues.

Often my intrusive thoughts are about world events, but at the moment they're suicidal. They push their way into everything i do/think and I'm so exhausted, just trying to ignore them. It's scary and I'm suffering insomnia. I'm currently off work for this week while I adjust to new meds, and my GP and psychologist are suggesting hospitalisation.

I've been trying mindfulness and exercise, as well as limiting alcohol (which I find hard).

So I guess I'm looking for suggestions and support. This mental health journey is so new for me and I feel very alone. I want to make it through this.

Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it. I just also want to state that I am currently safe and with family.

@Molliex , I hope your grandmother is comfortable and loved.

It sounds like you love her a lot.

Really hoping Monday's assessment works out well and that you get to see a good psychiatrist.

I'm really thinking about you xxxx

Hi all @Molliex @MDT @outlander @eth @Meowmy @Gazza75 @Shaz51 @eth

@BlueBay @CheerBear @TAB @Bunniekins @Angels333

I started doing this morning, but I spilt my drink all over my bed and got real angry with myself, chucked all my blanket sheets off and then just sat in a daydream like this isn't real and I'm only fi wishing this now, been a shit day , waste of time seeing doctor he wouldn't do anything to help and I actually had to ask to have blood test done, he didn't care that I keep feeling dizzy and fall over if I don't hold on to something, get ringing in my ears and my BPD is severe and told him that I can't get in to see my psychiatrist until 30 October as he's on long service leave, but he didn't care about that as well, then to top it off I told him I I'm having ST and he said absolutely nothing about that, so I'm pretty peed off with everyone at the moment.

May sound silly but please drink some water and find a way to exercise even if in bed all day . Friend years ago told me even on bad days(bed all day) they would exercise in bed situp leg raises etc @saturnzoon

@saturnzoon It’s tough day for you. Hope now you can relax a bit, now the bedding is dealt with. Hard if dr not sympathetic. May be you can see a different dr for help. Hope you find the evening a bit better. May be some soothing music, watch one of your shows to distract, ring a friend to chat . Take care.

hey @Molliex what a tough time your having atm, I hope youll get to see your grandma beforehand. thinking of you heaps, I do understand how hard it is hearing this news. Big hugs

hi @saturnzoon your sounding quite frustrated which is understandable. perhaps its worth having a look around for a gp whose is a better match for you and one you feel cares more without having to tell them what you need.

Hi @saturnzoon im sorry you’re struggling so much at the moment. It makes me angry thst your doctor is not listening or even caring. Maybe you could try to find another doctor. You would think thst your dictir would be concerned for you especially as your psych is away.

Pls take care. Maybe a nice warm drink, relaxing music

❤️❤️
