Morning @Anony18 ..... 😊
Sorry .... dozed off last night ,... iPad on my nose ... lol .... ❣
D3 has hypermobility .... very elastic ligaments .... we all do to some degree - familial thing - but she grew fast and one knee dislocated .... cracked off a small piece of bone .... needed surgery to clean it up a bit. It would usually heal fast enough, but owing to the laxity of ligaments, it joint was misalignment enough to prevent healing, and painful ..... she was not believed initially, and taken for a drama queen avoiding schoolwork ....😞
Two months later the other knee went, shattering the inside of her kneecap, but it remained in place and had to just heal - no surgery that time. 😕
It did mean a lot of weight gain (WH was trying to console her by feeding her junk food !) and an enormous amount of stress trying to recover her academic standing. The next year the academics had gained speed, and she felt like she hadn't had a proper break between years 9 and 10, so she was starting tired and stressed, and then stress illnesses began to impact .... IBS, glandular fever, viruses in general, along with the usual for hypermobility .... sprains, strains, rolled ankles, tendinitis .... bronchitis across Winter, laryngitis .... and every absence from school is followed by the stress of running to catch up on missed assignments, last minute submissions. late nights, late to school in the mornings .... she never really got back in the horse, despite being very bright. 😥
She had been mistaken in her first couple of years as having a learning disability by someone (at another school) who didn't understand the nature of dialects .... 😠 ..... we are a bilingual family and had been living overseas. By the time the issue had been sorted - dialects transfer naturally, but the mistaken person had moved to fault-finding with her to try to prove their point ..... grrrr !! ..... damage had been done to her self-esteem and self-confidence .... :face_with_rolling_eyes:😠😔. Under this new round of disaster, the cracks were showing up, made worse when she had to be bumped onto an alternate pathway because she wasn't settled enough in the main academic pathway to be geared to the pressure of it .... vicious cycle .... 😕
Upshot has been just trying to get her graduated now so she can get over school and back on her feet with what she wants to do beyond .... and she needs to graduate for self-esteem reasons .... 💜🌿
In the background of all of this has been her dad's mi ..... undiagnosed and as such untreated .... and that has been the worst of everything .... 😔 .... just gotta keep him pacified and soldier on with that at the mo ....
Well .... that answer wasn't short .... and not exactly a peppy mood ... so I might as well add in that I lost my mum 15 years ago, so I hear ya re Father's Day ..... but you know .... it does become a Memorial Day ..... I will be thinking of you, and your partner ... 💐
❤️ Wedding is in less than 2 months now .... days after D3's graduation .... !! .... we don't seem to be able to do things simply .... 😆 .... but we are a large family ....
