Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Hi there - my partner has been in hospital last four weeks to change medication - I’ve been visiting and taking her on day leave on the weekends - I’m exhausted and stressed out with heaps going on at work too and today I just couldn’t leave he house - I stayed in my pyjamas most of the day and watched my fav Netflix series - felt a bit cheerier in afternoon and had a shower and did some housework - feel guilty for taking the day off work

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

@Shaz51 thankyou for replying - I’ve been feeling very stuck waiting for my partner to return - my routine has been all out of sync and I’m struggling for energy - I find going to bed particularly hard as I can’t stop thinking at night and then I’m more tired in morning and it’s a bad cycle - I’m going to try to read a book now and see if that makes me tired and settled

Hi @Mandy1, I think your partner will be released in a hopefully much better frame of mind than when she was admitted, however it is important that continuing support is obtained, especially in the few weeks/months, to prevent relapse and to support her recovery. Does she have a support worker assigned to her? Will she be needing to see a psychiatrist or psychologist regularly? A GP can help organise referrals if need be for all these services.

Self-care for yourself is also important. Sounds like you had a bit of self-care today chilling and watching Netflix and that is great. I know for me, my primary carer is my partner and she and I share a support worker through the personal helpers and mentors program. This worker is helping each of us develop and maintain a wellness plan/crisis plan, as well as providing assistance in applying for support through the NDIS.

I know right now your feeling anxious about her return home, I think it is important to be open with your partner and her treating team about how you are feeling.

Hi @Shaz51 Mm tea, that's healthy. I used to drink tea, but I've been out of the habit for ages...

Earl Grey tea, that was my favourite.

Hi @Appleblossom Night night, good to see you.

Hello everyone....

The only thing with those fancy (creative) toppings on the top of coffees etc - is that it seems almost a shame to drink it.

Because that wrecks the lovely pattern (on top)...

Adge
