Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Remedial massage booked for tomorrow @soul for a it of self care. Going to arrange start of chiropractic plan also at the same time. (Massage is at chiro office). This is a positive progression for me considering how much I value personal space and dislike spending money on myself lol. Massage was a big help last time so actually looking forward to this one.

Good for you @Determined. I booked an appointment to get my hair done next week. I actually spend more on my dog's grooming than myself.

@soul @Determined

I don't usually spend money on myself much either. Physical "pampering" doesn't appeal to me, but I'm plotting the idea of paying out to go ice skating. There's a pop-up rink that will be set up at a nearby festival over the school hols. I don't care if I'm likey to be twice the age of most of the skaters, it's something that makes me feel so good! And if anyone's looking close enough to notice the lines at the corners of my eyes, they're obviously not paying enough attention to where they're skating. 😉

(First "date" with my now-hubby was at a roller skating rink. You know the old cliche about the guy helping the girlfriend who can't keep her balance? Well, think role reversal. Mheehee!)

You're quite welcome to congratulate us, but said date night was about 27 years ago, and the wedding happened over 25 years ago. So I've been Mrs. for quite a while… 😄

@DeterminedI also think of remedial massage as a form of self-care. I get one once a month, although the expense is always a concern - I am on a very low income, even less from next week onwards.

It helps with back pain, which I have frequently from scoliosis. Also relaxing.

I first thought of it as a substitue for hugs. The Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends book recommends frequent hugs as a healthy & healing remedy (or at least helpful) - when grieving a loss.

I had no-one to hug, so a massage was the next best thing (I thought).

The best massage I had @soul @Adge @Determined @Faith-and-Hope was a scrub and buff, essentially a rub down with sea salt to exfoliate, sent in the shower for a quick rinse and then buffed with a replenishing moisturizer. So so good but so so long ago.

How are you @Faith-and-Hope

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

I go to massages for the human touch @Adge ...... my situation has been so emotionally and physically isolating ..... my kids give me the best hugs, but it's not enough for how heartsore I am, and for how long I have been dealing with an emotionally austere inlaw family ..... the massage is like a hug ..... even if it's just your feet.
