Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

@Faith-and-Hope happy you're making some headway. Hope it does provide helpful relief for your son. I know when our daughter got DSP on first attempt (apparently a rare instance when it's a MI issue) we had very mixed feelings- relief that she wouldn't be pressured into work or study demands that she couldn't meet, but also sadness at the official acknowledgement that yes, it really is "that bad". I hope he can use his breathing space to great advantage.

Hope and pray that this might help your husband open up to a bit of self realisation. Staying with a MI spouse is a hard position... I've seen people reach the point where separating was the only safe choice left, but I think you're probably right to err on the side of "staying". Having been a child of an uneasy marriage, yeah it does hurt and does leave things that need to heal, but it can also leave a fair bit of extra scope for compassion and insight. Despite the rough road it's left us with, I'm still glad my parents stuck together. There's no one right decision for everyone, but there are right reasons for coming to whichever decision is made.

Likewise @Smc. I was impressed with the original Starwars series. Have to laugh now at the special effects and how they don't look so special anymore by today's standards. Haven't been able to get into the later ones. I think I got a bit confused by the whole prequel sequel stuff.

I've got a "mixed feelings" result tonight myself... Got a phone call to make an appointment for a Centrelink medical assessment for DSP. That means I've got past the JCA level of the process. Small "victory" that doesn't quite feel victorious because I'd rather be rid of the depression and back to normal-me functioning. Meh.... be glad when the whole thing's over and done with, whichever way it goes.

Interesting little fact- according to my psych, apparently poor sleep follows different patterns with anxiety and depression. Anxiety makes it hard to fall asleep, depression makes it hard to stay asleep. So me waking up in the wee hours and staying wakeful, hey guess what??
