Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Oh dear @Former-Member .... sounds like you've had a really bad day ..... ❤️💕

I have a combination of flooded inbox and come notifications not happening, but I will look you up and see where I can find you ....

We got rained out mid-painting yesterday so it's only half-done, you might have seen on my Far and Away thread, but I have taken a photo from the site to finish working on it at home.

It was good for the kids to have a go at open-air painting though, so worth the long drive, but we're in the road again today, headed home ... I have woken at 4:30am, so better try to doze some more soon.

❤️

Yes I did @Faith-and-Hope But I'm ok now and well on the mend. I hope you have a wonderful day. How is the weather for photos and painting?

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

It rained early in the morning @Former-Member .... but it was unexpected because the drive down the day before was bright sunshine all the way, so we were thinking it would be good yesterday too. It stayed overcast most of the day, then some blue sky showed through, as you can see in the painting, but then it started raining after an another hour or so ....

Still, the most important thing was taking photos for the oil painting I am planning, and I spent a lot of time with S2 particularly discussing composition and trying to take enough photos to support my impression of the place.

Anyway ... I had better try to get a little more sleep before we have to pack up and leave .... it's going to be another very long day. See you at the other end of it .... 😊

Take care ❤️

Hi @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Former-Member and everyone else.

Am feeling low today and am just gonna be lazing in the hotel room hiding out on my own. Got into an argument with my partner. Won't go into details but don't know when and if it can all be resolved. I didn't go to my work ball cause I wasn't up for it given this whole situation. Had plans for us to spend the weekend together. Spend time together but obviously not happening. The tough part is more the unresolved argument that is playing on my mind.

Hey @Faith-and-Hope, love your painting so far. Cant wait to see the finished product.

@Former-Member, so sorry to read that you had a really bad day yesterday. Glad today is shaping up to be an improvement.

@Shaz51, I hope your day is going well.

@Anony18 - Oh you poor thing. I am really sorry you have some unresolved differences which are still playing so badly on your mind. Whenever I am getting over an argument with my hubby, I also tend to feel very low and want to hide out. Unfortunately we had one last night as well, when he came home drunk. When drunk he will just pick, pick, pick until I eventually snap, blow my top and walk away. So I was in bed early last night, without dinner. I just lose any appetite I may have had, and dont really feel like doing anything after an argument. He's fine this morning though, all is forgotten. And I know its not use bringing the subject up now, he wont remember anything about last night. But he really can be extremely hurtful in things he says. Even though I know its not really true, its still belittling, upsetting, and often triggering. I hope you are able to sort things out sooner rather than later. It doesnt help to just stew over it. Good luck.

Sherry xx

@Anony18 That's cr@p. You missing the ball etc, I hope you sort it out one way or another, if you need to vent, please do. Sometimes it can really help in those situations.

Hi @Former-Member and @Former-Member

Some of the things he said was really harsh and jerk like as I think about it and process the whole argument. I know some of my actions that he picked on were right. Unfortunately he is quicker thinker on his foot then i am so the things I want to say is all written down and waiting for when we speak. Which i don't know when if i left it in his hands to reach out to me. Could be a week or more. I wish he msg me today but given he is super sick with gastro and so been grumpy that ain't gonna happen 😑<br>Just wish to know right now in his eyes we are ok and will talk soon once he is better and more calm.

@Anony18@Former-Member

One thing that's hard about being close to someone with MI is that there's times when they will say something really hurtful, and you need to find a way to deal with it, while at the same time you know that they either couldn't comprehend how hurtful they were being, or didn't have any real control over their state of mind at the time. My hubby's very supportive, but I have had times when my mother has spoken really harshly towards me or someone else in the family, and I've also seen an "ex-friend" with MI treat us and others in a habitually cruel way.

It's so difficult to put these hurts aside, and it may be that the other person hasn't got the emotional/psychological capacity to talk through and resolve what happened. I don't know whether it's the case with either of you, but sometimes the verbal attack isn't really the fault of the person on the receiving end- the attacker may be transferring their anger, guilt or fear from another situation in their past or present to the person who happens to be closest to them at the current time. I know I've seen that in action. You might need to look deeper than your own relationships to find out the real cause of their anger, and whether they're ready and able to deal with such past sources of pain is another thing again. But regardless, it's possible that any guilt or blame they've laid isn't really yours to carry.

Thanks @Smc for that insight. Yes it is a possibility of course, in fact its quite likely the case. However, as I suffer from PTSD myself, I am just not capable of dealing with that sort of behaviour or personal attacks, when I am struggling badly myself.
