Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Hi @Shaz51 .... 😊💕

@Smc .... I can so relate ! We are in that mode now with this flu ... only for the first time it's my hubby who is having to "hold the fort" cos he got it first .... D3 is not (yet) ill so she is helping .... but she is also lacking sleep for sharing a room with a night-coughing sister .....

Brings back so many memories of years of hard juggling to get through .... but baby steps get you there,

Hang in there .... ❤️💕

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Good morning @Shaz51. Been a bit MIA on the forums. Been so busy with Chines new year and work plus dance is back this week. Work is so busy. Haven't had much time to stop.

Feeling quite down today. Found out our melbourne colleague passed away last night. I saw it in the news and had this bad feeling and it was confirmed today. She is about my age. Although I didn't know her the news is hitting me really hard. Guess just thinking about how short life is and sad for the family.

Hi @Anony18 .....

I was hoping that wasn't your colleague .... so sad. These things are without rhyme or reason, but a reminder to be grateful for so many things in our own lives .... and feeds our compassion, as sad as they are .....

Although I wish it hadn't happened, the outpouring of public displays of compassion and solidarity are truly beautiful .... and powerful.

Hi @Anony18,

I'm sorry to hear about your colleague's death, that is really tragic. I can imagine having the news confirmed would hit you really hard. It's understandable that you are feeling down.

I hope you have some time/space to take it easy after your busy period given this news. What can you do to look after yourself?

Take care,

Shimmer

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope @Shimmer

When i read the news I was not hoping it was her but I did not have that great feeling. When the news came from our CEO this morning it was devastating. Doesn't help when you hear all these terrible things that are happening around the world these days. The compassion of people and support are amazing, especially in this day and age. But I can't help but empathise with the family and what they going through. Plus it hits home when you think about your life and that anything can happen to you or your love ones so it makes it that more precious in that sense.

I was thinking of working tonight but now I may just go to the local cinema and watch a movie. It may not entirely cheer me up but it will calm me down a bit. I know it is just a passing for now but at this present moment it is tough when it is so fresh on your mind and you can't help but reflect alot.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

It's very natural that you are feeling reflective right now @Anony18, especially when it's so fresh.

Cinema sounds like great self-care

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

That sounds like a good idea @Anony18 ..... it is a times like this that you need to take yourself out of your own head and focus on something external to your situation.

Take care of you ....

Hugs 💗

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

@Anony18 My sympathies too. It's hard enough news when there's not a personal connection.

Hope you were able to enjoy CNY? We're typical "white Aussies" but have a lot of Chinese friends, so we kind of join in with some low key New Year and Autumn Festival celebrations with them, some years more so than others. We're in a country area, so there's not the big celebrations that happen in parts of Melbourne. I did have fun one year wandering around a Melbourne suburb that was in the middle of Autumn Festival celebrations with a few friends. 🙂

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

@Appleblossom - probably watch Split which is a movie about a guy with many many different personalities.

@Smc - I had a great chinese new year celebration. Low key for the moment but really good. I went to a chinese restaurant Sunday and it had the lion dance which is traditional. We got a discount on our bill cause the owner did not like the bill amount as it was a bad luck number in Chinese so he reduced it to a more good luck figure. Meant to have a few more catch ups but I have to see how I feel. My best friend (with probably the good intentions) has a tendency to just put events in my diary and lately I am just finding having my life planned out so far in advanced actually doesn't sit well with me. Feels it overwhelms me at times! Don't know if any of you felt or feel that way.
