There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.
I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.
Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.
Decadian - thinking of you and your family and your perfect storms - oh man!!!!

@Decadian
He's only just been told, so I'm not sure how he will take it ..... but there hasn't been a day for several years now that he hasn't been jogging and weight-lifting .....
He has been told that he can take a gentle walk, so I am guessing he will "gentle-walk" all weekend now ....

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Oh @Faith-and-Hope
I am guessing those walks will be anything but gentle
This is a matter of concern - and now - it's happening
Prayers are going up for all - I imagine this will be difficult for everyone and this is your holiday time too - and you all need this
Let's hope he co-operates

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
You'll get there @Faith-and-Hope, re house. Was the wedding or reception at your home or did you have bodies everywhere (sorry missed that detail)? Did D1 get to go somewhere for honeymoon?
Hi @Former-Member, what's making you so tired lately? Not anemic? Eating proper?
@Decadian, thanks for your heart felt response to my post about loss, TS and pending anniversaries. You clearly do understand. "We don't 'get over it' we just 'get on with it'" (heard this quote in a movie yesterday), we don't really have much choice of escape anyway (accept the dreded SI) but talking here helps ease the pain, thanks you, AND ALL WHO CHAT WITH ME HERE.
Had a big day today - 40min dr to town, fasting for bloods, phlebotomist missed 1st time (of cause), Gynae apt took 2hrs & have to go back next month (nothing major). The hospital were selling lovely bunches of Sweet Peas which I bought for my friend 'R' (who I baby sat for Wed when she had urgent pain management admission), actually found the perfect little vase for the flowers at an op shop & left them by her door (not home). Couldn't drive past the op shop (oh dear, should i confess what else i found? hmm). Wanted to do a couple other things but the back - ouch, had to come home & rest. Then my VC visited (yes, she did text first) and didn't stay long as i asked, no problems, phew.
Just rang mum, she was upset cause dad fell today (not hurt just couldn't get up), and she couldn't help him & didn't know what to do (3sons not answering phones), so she called police & somehow got two of them to come give a lift. Its sad. Probably have to go to care eventually. Love the BFGW2 where the family, all living near, rushed over to help. Its awful feeling powerless, mar has always called the shots but feeling it now things are slowly slipping out of her grasp.
Watching a Denzel Washington movie 'man on fire' - violent but a good hero storyline.
Sorry I've got behind with everyone's news. Does overwhelm me at times but think I'm slowly getting better.
Listening to my big green frogs talking to each other. Haven't had them here for years, like it.
Chat later 🙂

@Decadian
If the doctor's swift response and severe curbing of his exercise has scared him enough .... I believe he will comply, but be legalistic enough about it to gentle-walk all day for the next two days ....

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Hi @Former-Member
Yes - I do understand the loss and all it means - we cannot recover what is taken when our children die - they take too much with them - and we can only live around it
TS - ah yes - I am through with mine - I went through a feeling of grief I think - I was thrilled when the new baby - wherever it came from - was a sister - and when I first saw her she was eating my mother (breast feeding) and Gran explained this to me - no one else told me where the baby was and now the milk started
But she was a nasty little girl - and it seems that there was a spirit within her that clashed with my bright light - and that spirit came out of her when she glared and stared at me at the funeral - so you know yourself - you can't win either way - and we need not feed their games
So I found after feeling really terrible - I did not cause this and I give TS no further opening - of course - I cannot stop her from lying - she always will behave like a 10 yo - because that behaviour served her when she was 10.
Sad case - and yes - I find it invaluble too that here is a bunch of people who are understanding and supportive - and some that really understand having been through it too
I'm sorry about your Dad falling - I have to have the paramedics get me up sometimes - very embarrassing in public - but yes - if your Dad is getting that frail he will need to have something arranged - your Mum can't do it - and neither can your brothers either it seems
And you are too far away
