Glad you had a good day in the mountains with your family of creation.
Very sorry to hear about the situation with your brother and his family.
I am always upset when I hear of minors on those heavy duty meds. I have seen a few situations when I was home visiting with food vouchers. There must be a few professionals already involved for her to be on them, but they may have had situation presented to them in different ways.
It is so hard when it is family. Traumatic and it is important that you keep some level of detachment and bathe yourself in the goodness of your own family, but it is hard. I have been in similar situation with my brother over 15 years and it did not end well for him, (today is his anniversary) although now all 4 kids are doing reasonably well. Consider whether any escalation on your part will improve the situation for your niece. Not sure what your psychologist said.
Stay Safe for your small circle. We only need to step outside to larger related circles when necessary.
