Hey @Former-Member , today is okay, spending it with Mr Angels and my young adult kids for fathers day. Will head up the mountains to a vegetarian Cafe.

Trigger warning!!
I had a wonderful day with Mr Angels and my young adult kids, it was awesome.
But then I phoned my mum and I was reminded of the train wreck that my brothers family is. It's inherited from my parents and all the trauma caused there.
I now know how bad it is for my niece. I don't know how to help and I feel so empty I know if I notify community services I will not be supported....

Hi @Angels333 - so glad to read you had a good day with your husband and kids 🙂
Sorry to hear about your extended family issues - families can be so tricky. Do you and your niece stay in touch? (sorry, not sure of her age).

Hey @Molliex I keep my family at a distance, we live in different states. There was too much family violence when I was a kid to cope with living near each other. My older brother was very violent with me growing up, it was always my fault apparently... My niece is 9yo and is diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder she is medicated with antipsychotics, she is the youngest of 4 kids. My brothers family has always been dysfuntional with alcohol and violence but things have escalated and with it the violence. I have spent the moning researching how I can report the situation. My niece needs stability. I am quite distressed and triggered by it all I am about to contact my psychologist and discuss it with him. I just went for a walk with Mr Angels and we discussed it, the last thing we need is my brother getting angry with me a driving interstate to assault me in anger. It's all such a sad situation.
XOXO ANGELS333

Hi @Angels333 I really hope you've had some helpful advice from your psychologist about your niece's situation. I can understand your alarm. As far as I know you should be able to report anonymously these days. Several years ago I did report someone and the police told her I did it so I really understand your concerns. As I understand it you can report to a Dr and the Dr has the duty to report to child services, so that might keep your name out of it. Take good care xx

@Angels333 I know this is late but wanted to say if you have any concerns then report it - what is done from then on is out of your hands but if you don't and something really bad happens then you will feel worse. As a society, and as human beings, if we see or hear of something that is not right then I feel it is our responsibility to do something about it - so many of us here have suffered at the hands of others and/or had difficult childhoods - and I have no doubt so many of us had nothing done to help. It is entirely your decision but I would encourage you to think about your neice and her safety - it may make a difference.
