Re: Self Harm

Thanks for your feedback @Snowie and @Angels333 - it's always encouraging to have that

I burned-out when my kids were in primary school and I spent some time in a private psyche clinic and learned so much truth my mother had never taught me. My son was a very troubled child and I was studying my first HSC subject and people thought and never held back in telling me that it was too much and to stop studying - wow - they were so wrong - all the years of studying in my adult life have been invaluable and I don't think I would have done so well without such a self-interest

Some time during those years I told my mother I was emancipated - she laughed at me and told me with a husband and two children I couldn't be - I remember thinking though I told her nothing that she had no concept of what I was talking about.

Emancipation is a state of mind not a state of being.

And yes - I taught my daughter that and she is doing well in the world. I decided so much would stop with my generation and my D and GD and very self-sufficient women and doing well in the world - I am proud of them

As you all know my son didn't make it yet he did leave a gift I would not have had if I had not adopted him and loved him as much as I did - that was to sort out the chaff from the grain in my life and one issue about the others was to sort out that other people's "advice" could be specious - it could look okay on the surface but maybe not so in reality - it's been my life's work and I am really getting into the historical reasons for women being so vulnerable in this world

Unconditional love - for my kids - yes - and also knowing that the thing I wanted most for them was respect for other people - for each other - for me - for their friends, teachers, the law - and less defined - to love themselves

That last one is a hard lesson to teach and a harder one to learn

Thanks both of you

Re: Self Harm

That's really inspiring @Owlunar especially the emancipation stuff.

I'm feeling really anxious about work tomorrow. I took a med to calm myself but it's not working. I didn't sleep last night as I was feeling sick with fevers and sore throat so am hoping I can fall asleep soon

And something has happened to my settings on the forums I have a black and green background and it's really hard to see. I was thinking that @MDT might be able to tell me how to fix it.

Hey @Angels333 sounds like your device is on night mode?

Re: Self Harm

@outlander is into something here @Angels333

Also @Angels333 one step at a time. Don't put so much pressure on yourself either.

Hour by hour or minute by minute if need be.

Re: Self Harm

You may have inverted the settings too @Angels333

Maybe try a different browser or app if you are using your phone.

Re: Self Harm

Hi @Angels333

I hope your day at work goes well and you get over the fever etc and and put your tension aside for the time you are there - I know it's not easy - remembering to breathe while taking in new stuff all day and relatig relating to other people

All the best with that

About your computer - go to Settings -

Then to personalisation

And then I think themes -

I did this to one of my computers once - when it was brand new - and a technician came in to sort out my wireless settings I think - or broadband - I have totally forgotten which - but it was worth the money to pay to have it all sorted out for me.

Emancipation - yes - I will be writing more about this - I would love to write a book on the subject - it would be interesting just writing about it

I really think many women are trapped by generations of faulty perceptions of how things should be and that it so hard - it isn't selfish at all to put ourselves first - if we can do that we can care about other people more through love rather than duty

Boy - I am finding I have my work cut out for me

Hey @MDT @Owlunar @outlander

It's really weird, I use my phone for sane forums but my phone isn't on night mode, everything else is normal, I am just about to check my chromebook to see if the problem is there too.
