Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

And of course the beverage of your choice.

EDIT : Do feel free to contribute some music too. Of any style. The more the merrier ...

Welcome!!!

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

@MDT good idea with limiting the digital media time. Reading an actual book would be a good thing. What is a legi mosaic? I'm not a gamer at all, except I play spider solitaire every day, a contrast to complex games! When I'm in a better state, a lot of time on the computer is working on videos. But I've been having trouble with my desktop for months which is preventing me doing that. Just had a Windows reinstall, so next step is to set it all up again.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hey @Mazarita that was a typo lol - Lego Mosaic.

This one https://www.lego.com/en-sg/product/star-wars-the-sith-31200

Ah yeah a fresh install is usually a good idea. Was thinking of doing the same soon. Will see how that goes.

YEah I like days like today. Lately I need a break from it all. When I say "a break from it all" I mean the world, work, other people, politics etc....

I feel a bit stable with work I think. Many things are changing and new people are there so maybe the pressure on me to go elsewhere at work will be less. Can cruise along until I leave. Whenever that is.

I also need to learn how to not beat myself up about it too. But I guess that's a theme for another thread lol

Woops, forgot to tag you, @MDT...

Hoping the support worker I will be getting soon will help me to get more into that 'out there' you understandably need a break from on weekends. I get too much break time! Balance is the thing I am seeking, elusive though it is.

@Mazarita

Hope things gecome manageable. Think thats all we get, minor improvements here and there.

Things have changed in medical field. I did pay for short series of acupuncture 25 years ago, maybe it is something I can get on ndis. I have waited long enough.

@TAB Nah Old people feel the heat, but maybe they are not used to endless air con. My grandfather had an old window box tho, so he had cooling way before me. Nobody really likes paying bills, you dont. I dont, I guess the bits of choice we get is when we have some control over our own household. I have not lived with refrig cooling and think it is bad for the planet and people catching endless colds, as they over use it, and then get sick moving from excess cool to the real temperature outside. Yes I spent 6 month in Asia without air con and used ceiling fans. I did not have to work, so that was one thing. I do respect the need for it. I installed mine cos students and kids were really flaking in the heat and wanted them to be able to be alert. I am annoyed that better cooling options were not made more available to the mainstream. Aaaah capitalism ....its a beast.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

apparently brain works better under 21 deg @Appleblossom we had hand me down portable bonaire evaps as kids were life saver. Parents got r/c aircon after left home, fans can be very good, never stayed anywhere long term that had a decent one

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

The zoo was amazing for getting the latest on all that stuff. SOme people then get all het up and FIX the temperature. I figure I have earned the right to go by own feeling of being hot and cold. I dont bother switch it on often ... but once house heated up takes more to bring it down. My ex grew up in engineer family with engineered top end house, then came to oz where we did not have snow often. Good enuff is good enough. Gotta wonder why people want to get too exact. I spent so long doing sums really sick of it. @TAB Is magic number 21 adjusted for habitat and habituation, height, weight and skin colour?? Getting het up also puts my neck out ... I just dont do it anymore.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Thank you @TAB

Did so much number crunching my feelings are a fairly good statistical guide. Also the give or take 10 % rule, is useful. No air con when I was a child at school, maybe cos we were down south, just sent home on a couple super hot days, then they set it at 35. A couple years can make a difference.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

well the 'give or take' is most of effect most of time ie Bell Curve I guess @Appleblossom think maybe went home early once or twice in primary school. Dreaded being in modern transportable classrooms, were so hot, 100 year old ones were way cooler, underfloor space high ceilings, roof vents, tall windows that could be opened at top and bottom etc plus solid stone walls over a foot thick
