The Fast Turnaround, Dizzy one day, Deathly the next

The Fast Turnaround, Dizzy one day, Deathly the next

AH. <sigh> I had three good days - i could tell I was elevated, but didn't think I was hypo-manic. If the C-r-a-s-h today is any indication I was more elevated than I thought.

I seem never to have 'normal' - I am rarely sparkly. spinning, happy and full of chatter and life I get a few days of it and feel great - then nasty irritable sets in, then down

going down
Floor 5 - Ladies gloves, scarves and apparell.

<sigh>
I am so sick of the turbulence.

For support I phone
BeyondBlue
Mensline

And yes I do get disorientated
Sort of like a waking lucid dream state
But I'm relatively mentally stable

Re: Adult daughter of a Demented Mum

Tinnitus, stammering, losing words. I HAVE to come off this new (since Feb) medication.

Awoke this morning once again with head kicking into reptitious, thought streams.

Got up and as I was having first coffee - I just gave my mind a big toy to play with.

List words throught he alphabet a to z

Name all the animals you can think of going through the alphabet a to z

Think about arriving at a particualr camp in Botswana and every moment of that stay.

Do the dishes. Hang out the washing.

I am beside myself, splitting. sigh.

Doctors appointment on Monday at 11ish - I need to manage coming off this new med and going back onto my old one. It's gonna get a lot worse before it gets better and I STILL have to organise ongoing care for my mum.

When I think about her and the situation all I want to do is wail.

So I am trying VERY hard to not think about her while she has this 24 hour in home care. So I can have a break, but that makes me feel like I am not 'responsibile' person. OMG. I wish I was dead. No I don't I just want all this to be over.

A very dear friend is flying down from interstate to stay with me today through Wednesday to help me with all of this. My lovely partner is a trooper and very supportive of me personally but not really her thing to 'help' with nursing and besides she works full time and supports us both.

One Day at A Time. Ommmmmmmmmmmm.

Re: Adult daughter of a Demented Mum

Went to doc, have come off the med that was causing the trouble in a rapid way, and onto my old anti-d. My doc increased my anti-psychotic med by twice the dose. She had never seen me in high anxiety and hypomanic until Monday - that was an eye opener for her, she had only ever seen me depressed.

Tinnitus volume has increased, now also waterfall-lights in peripheral vision & photophobic (light sensitive). May be classic migraine symptom - without the headache, I never knew you could have migraine without headache until now. All bought on by stress probably.

Completed the Aged Care assessment at my Mum's yesterday woke up this AM with total laryngitis. My partner has stayed home so she can take any calles that come in from aged care services about my Mum, what a time to lose my voice.

I wonder if it is psychological because I feel like I sold my poor occsionally confused, definately memory loss (now more demented) dignified, lovely Mum down the river yesterday so she will get the assistance she needs. Being demented (and rapidly failing) is the pits. Poor Mum.

I have an appointment later today with a Psychologist supplied by CArers org. I am having to deal with the person who abused me on a daily basis (because we are related) about Mum. It is doing my head in, I am triggered everytime we speak. <sigh>

Anyways - my very good friend who flew from intersate to help me traverse the Aged Care system and help with the ACAT assessment flew home yesterday - she was an absolute and wonderful support to me. (She is an ex-Aged Care DON so knew her stuff).

I have two days off ffrom having to vivist Mum as she has friends looking out for her for two days. It may take up to 4 weeks to get the ACAT assessment results but we MAY be able to get her into Respite care (for both our sakes!) by next week after initital assesment (temporary result) is known.

This end of life is certainly such a difficult time when dementia comes into the picture., Poor Mum. <weep>

Hi @MoonGal, how devastating for you. I have no words to make these things better. The best I can do is send listening support and hugs. Will be thinking of you gently as you go through this.

@Mazarita - thank you it is helping just telling the story here, I understand that no one person and nothing said can change the lived reality- but just being able to SAY how I feel and what is happening is helping. Thanks for the support and virtual hugs. ❤️

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope

One good thing about having recorded all of this since 14 May is I have pulled it into a document to give the Psychologist as I have laryngistis but really really need to start some sessions abut my caring roll and being triggered over and over.
