Does uncertainty affect anxiety?

What does your anxiety look like and feel like?

thanks @joannah pls feel free to come back on the forum and answer later...I'm really hoping to get a variety of answers. If I use them for my project, I'd seek permission. I don't mind sharing, it's for a book coming out in a bit

Re: Men and anxiety

Many gifted and talented people suffer with anxiety and it is of environmental origins I tend to believe.

What happens if life intervenes and you fall out of routine @Former-Member? How does that impact on your anxiety?

Re: Men and anxiety

Gosh @theaveragejoe that's really interesting...I feel this way. I was born sensitive, I didn't have a society/family to support me/hold me through it and so my coping mechanisms got out of hand. Is it the thoughts about the corruption etc, the inability to fix things, the fact you feel you shouldn't be so sensitve (as a bloke) that fuels the anxiety? or?

!!! @Shaz51 ...i hear this a bit from blokes. that cluster of competing needs that pull in all directions and they cluster and cluster...and then how do you pull out the "right " thing to do/prioritise etc...yes?

Indecision...

I tried to buy a rug once. there were several i liked and all same price and i couldnt make myself choose one.. so i got my 4 year old (at the time) to choose..

I get so flustered by being asked certain types of questions.. personal questions or those twisty deep want more information questions from my psychologist that my brain just seems to disappear and everything is just blank and frozen..

Big things.. like wheher or not to take time off of work because im really struggling at the moment just exhausts me to even think about and i end up so frozen that its easier to try and keep going (even past breaking point) than it is to make a decision to change something...

Hi @Former-Member,

I hear you. I find making lists and pre-planning a lot of stuff helps reduce anxiety. I like to tick things off a list as I do them- it makes me feel productive. I have a weird obsession with having to be productive. My Mum was like this too. Doing stuff and achieving stuff seems to lessen anxiety, but only temporarily, unfortunately.
