Does uncertainty affect anxiety?

What does your anxiety look like and feel like?

You are a very good psychologist, in my humble opinion, @Former-Member. Very open minded, very experienced and humble. I like psychologists like you, and I say this with all sincerity.

Hi @Sarah108 and all,

yes, I agree that at times I would love someone to approach me, to want to take care of me and sooth me, but unfortunately there are very few people who could fill this role for me. I don't trust people and even though I fear rejection myself, I usually keep my distance from others. How ironic!

I much prefer usually to try and calm myself rather than have someone else do it. I think it comes from growing up anxious and feeling overwhelmed by people as a child. people in general I find rather threatening.

but I am happily married and my husband will do things for me if I specifically ask him to.

Men and anxiety

Here's a big one...Men and anxiety…what gets you (if you're a bloke on here tonight) anxious? Is it decision making? What kind of decisions?

Do you feel it's different for you, compared to women? Do you think your anxiety is different to a woman's anxiety?

Re: Uncertainty - does it affect your anxiety?

i just like to have things scheduled into routines i guess.. (i'm a teacher.. maybe thats why lol) so on mondays i plan all of my literacy learning for the week.. on tuesdays i do maths for the next week etc At home i have a jobs list for each day.. i.e. do washing on Mon, Weds and Fri, Vacuum on Weds night and Vacuum and mop on Sunday.. i always have a meal plan etc. so things are just... in a routine?

Thanks @joannah, we'll be keeping the topic open if you'd like to come back and add some more tomorrow. We've valued your input. Have a good evening.

Re: Men and anxiety

Life and people make me anxious, Sarah, that life is so corrutped and many people so unable to be honest with themselves let alone with others.

A sensitive person that is open can develop mental disorders in this life, especially anxiety.
