wow @Mazarita so when you connect with the meaning, or engage in it, the anxiety abates?

@Sarah108 I felt I was looking for something for a long time, but I am calmer when I stop with having projects, seeking out the new thing or awesome find at the scrap yard, and sit with my family and be present with them.

Re: Men and anxiety

I think that to be gifted is to care for humanity and the world in a very profound way. a way that non gifted people do not understand. It has little to do with talents, thought talents are often a symptom of being gifted, because gifted people have a very developed sensitivity that leads them to experience life in a very marked way.

Every word, every bird song, every sunset, every beautiful person, every sunny day, is so very beautiful that words cannot describe. Gifted people can be compared to people that experience hypomania in a controlled and constant way. Life is simply beautiful, But gifted people can also see the ugly side of life in a much more marked way than non gifted people can.

Bipolar disorder shares many things with giftedness to the point that they can be almost identical, I believe, only that giftedness is controlled while bipolar is often not controlled way.

Many health professional confuse giftedness with mental illness. I have witnessed a few cases.

Re: Spirituality and anxiety

@Sarah108 I think I yearn for a place to call home (I have lived in rental accomodation my whole life and moved from place to place) and also a community around me to feel comfortable with, who I resonate with. This seems like an impossibly tall order but I get it in fragments, as I think a lot of us find happiness and contentment in fragments in this overwired capitalistic society. The Buddhist idea about contentment resonates with me too, so that I find I can be strangely content at times when to others my life would look strange and ill. Just don't put me under any pressure, then the contentment goes out the window!

Re: Men and anxiety

@theaveragejoe do you think being diagnosed with bipolar etc can prevent the "inward journey"?

Re: Spirituality and anxiety

kids have no fear (in a world where they havent been hurt)... or less fear/knowledge of consequences perhaps.. they are in the moment.. not considering a hundred different scenarios of possibilities..
