Re: Spirituality and anxiety

as I read this I thought - omg this is me @Sarah108 I remember once thinking if I was religious I might feel more at home in my own skin. I might 'find' myself and understand the world better

I frequently delegate small decisions to my child @Former-Member! It's such a relief to have a break from making decisions that I'm happy to live with whatever the consquences are

About your spirituality post, @Sarah108, I relate to it as a sense of not ever being quite 'at home'. And yes, that probably does mean being at home with myself alone. Spiritually I am best described as 'diffuse'. I try to find meaning in nature and the wonders of the universe but most especially in creativity, about which I am very passionate. When engaging with creative work, I can become totally absorbed in it and perhaps feel the best I ever feel really.

I think that's probably righht @Sarah108 - the anxiety stemming from the missing something... but is the missing something really missing or is it just a fictional perfect world scenario that we think we need... or is it a real missing element.. or is it perhaps differnent for every individual situation?

Re: Men and anxiety

yes it is harder for everyone because life is far too complex. We have created a huge complication rather than simplify things

@Former-Member for me I think it is tied into PTSD from early life trauma and I my adrenaline trips into overdrive easily ... It follows old panic pathways easily.

Re: Spirituality and anxiety

To add to the main thread... @theaveragejoe @Former-Member @Mazarita

Do you have a sense that you're yearning something MORE?

What is it you yearn? Me, I yearn to sit with myself comfortably and to know what this caper called life is all about. I yearn to know that I fit. That it all makes sense. I yearn the expansive, magnificent spaciousness that comes from knowing and connecting with it, to feel formed. This is what I mean when I say I seek a Something Else.

This is at the heart of my anxiety. Or rather, the fact that I can’t grasp it, connect with it, live it. It always has been.

You?

What do you yearn???

Re: Spirituality and anxiety

@Sarah108, I'm reading that as a sort of existential loneliness. Have I got that right? Something that busyness and company distracts us from but is lurking underneath, prompted by slights or misunderstandings or just time on our hands.
