Stressed with work

Stressed with work

I am so stressed, my anxiety level is really high. I have so much stress at work at the moment. A young girl resigned two weeks ago, they employed someone else who is hopeless. Now i have been so much more extra work, responsibility that i don't know if i can do it. The area manager of our store came in today and was shwoing me so much stuff that it has gone over my head. And i can't ring her to ask her to repeat it again because that makes me feel so useless and dumb. She told me she is coming back next month to do an audit of our store. she then said we need to planogram each section of the store to our it is meant to be according to the print outs. she kept going on and on and on.

i am home now stressing and thinking of all the work that has to be done. i can ask the other girl to help me but she is so hopeless i am doing work at the moemnt for two people.

i don't know how to cope with all of this; all i want to do is cry because i am so overwhelmed with the amount of work put on me. and its not my responsibiity i am not paid to be a manager and nor do i wnat it either. and i don't get paid enough to be stressing so much.

i don't know what to do. i feel like i want to scream, yell, cry, and run away. i can't cope with all of this; its bad enough going through my own personal issues; i hate life

@BlueBay

I think the idea of writing a list is a good one. Don't worry about what you're going to do with it right now - just let your thoughts flow.

Perhaps right now might not be the best time to do the list - it sounds like you should be investing in taking care of yourself tonight. If writing the list will be helpful, go for it - but if you feel it will be too much tonight, lets look at other things you can do to care for yourself tonight.

Don't think I can do the list. I'm too angry. I just need to veg out a bit. Feel like i need to hibernate and j feel so emotional.

@NikNik

If my behaviour and emotional outburts and my BPD stays like this - i will end up losing my job. I can't keep this up anymore, my emotional outburst, my uncontrolled anger.

But it's not all my fault, i struggle so much with BPD, and stress isnt helping

i feel so hopeless at times.

Hi @BlueBay

I just read your poem in the other thread. I hope you're finding your poetry writing as helpful as you have in the past.
It seems like tonight isn't about tackling big questions - but looking after yourself - as it seems that you are.

@BlueBay I forgot to ask, are you still going to the outpatient treatment program? How are you finding it?

Re: Stressed with work

I'm trying to be okay tonight @NikNik but it's hard. I feel like such a failure; a person who can't see better. And because i get so angry i feel terrible, i feel like

i'm hurting, i am trying so hard to change my BPD thinking and behaviour but after so many years of doing this it is really hard to even see it that i do it.

it's not making sense??

maybe i should just pack my bags and go away; i think i need to go to bed and hibernate under my doona where i feel safe; trouble is that's where i go when i feel really bad. and i used to do this when i was little, i can remember each time i did as a child, i would hide under my doona and rock myself to sleep. probably because no one cared.

friends and family - no one cares; i don't care anymore about any of them; because they don't have mental illness, they don't get the pain, the hurt, the thinking, behaviour

i am going off topic here; sorry

@NikNik

yes i am going to outpatient program but I didn't go this week as I had a few appointments including my psych session. I am going next Tuesday and i am hoping i will have enough courage to try the art therapy.

it is good, i did miss the contact this week.

i'm just a bit scared and anxious about art.

Re: Stressed with work

I'm glad you're finding it helpful!

Can I share a secret with you? I feel like I'm terrible at art, but I still love buying a canvas and playing with the paint.

I don't really go into it with a plan - just mix colours that I like. I find it's like colouring in - have you got yourself a colouring book?

I find just getting lost in the colours and the brush strokes relaxes me. I don't really care what it turns out like - I just like the process.

I think you'll find that others in the class will have the same anxieties as you - so they're too busy focused on their own work, rather than yours 🙂

Hi @BlueBay

I noticed in career chat that you're having a tough day.

It's crappy that your friend is being so dismissive. Are you working with her today? That must be hard to be around her, if that's the case.

I have a feeling that you're at work now - so hopefully we can help you focus on getting through the day and minimising the distress. Some suggestions that come to mind are:

- Focus on the elements you enjoy and spend more time doing them: You mentioned you enjoy customers that come in. I hope you're taking some time to have a nice chat and getting some positive interactions with them.

- Breaking your day into chunks and focusing on one task at a time (as much as you can - I know how unpredictable and reactive working in a shop can be) and giving yourself an internal high five when you complete that task.

- Think about what is waiting at home for you: I think I recall a lovely poem you wrote about your dog. I hope thinking about him gives you something to look forward to.

Does anyone else have any tips on getting through a tough day at work?

Re: Stressed with work

Mmmmmmmm @BlueBay

You have made your position very plain - and two things stand out

That "friend" is no friend - she is a vexatious spirit - and if your choice is to stay working there - then there has to be a way of blanking her out - so you hear her if she says something you near to know - but change mental channels if she starts to get up your nose - yeah - literally - blow it

And yes - list all the things you do at work - and write a resume - and if you believe you are being taken advantage of - present it to your boss - let your grievances be known quietly - in writing

Many long years ago we did not have contracts - we just went to work - now we need to know - employers and employees - who is supposed to get what and what you are paid etc -

You do have rights - if you are underpaid then that is possibly what is grinding you

To me it seems that you are entitled to your grudge - but it's painful and you are chaffing under a lot of stuff - I have a memory like an elephant - I know you have major life issues as well as work-place discrimination going on right now

So while you think you are posting too much - you are actually digging yourself out of your hole - it may look impossible right now - but it's not

Fear not - if you are being exploited and it all blows up in your face - you really are not losing anything - and it will be you who is found - you will find yourself

I just found out how to post pics - here's one for you

Decadian

Fantastic!
