The Beer Garden

The Beer Garden

i encourage you all to join me for some casual drinking, social lubrication and light laughter right here in the beer garden.

Oh and before anyone gets up in arms about alcohol and its dangers the main beer on tap is VB or virtual beer

beer is the third most commonly consumed drink in the world behind water and tea

why not share the worlds joy with friends

Re: The Beer Garden

That's flash @TAB! Try unlined corrugated iron with sack lining and canvas roof and canvas strether (v. narrow) for a bed and fruit box for chair. Shower an open cubicle and bucket with shower head. Pull the chain and you might get half wet. Some were pretty grim but nevertheless somewhere to sleep and far better than a swag. Ours weren't much better.

geez @Kurra how long ago was that? I was talking early 60s for one I remember

Thats the shearing shed was talking about and first house I lived in. Took pics less than a year ago. Think about 7 years ago the house was still intact and had people living in it

Re: The Beer Garden

Still waiting for the pics to come through @TAB. Believe it or not but I'm speaking of current working sheds. 10 to 12 stands. Not too uncommon in some of the areas I travel at times. Good cheap accommodation !

Re: The Beer Garden

@Kurra I met people who worked on large stations around 10 years ago .. got less than $300 a week for unlimited hours, had to buy overpriced cigs etc if they smoked, old Lightburn twin tub washer for 10 people to use etc ..saw an ad on gumtree in last week for station work; they were offering $250 a week.. yeah different world

Re: The Beer Garden

It is a different world but free bed and biard and good hearty country meal add significantly to the $250/week For all the disadvantages there's just as many advantages. Best way to live imho!
