The Beer Garden

The Beer Garden

i encourage you all to join me for some casual drinking, social lubrication and light laughter right here in the beer garden.

Oh and before anyone gets up in arms about alcohol and its dangers the main beer on tap is VB or virtual beer

beer is the third most commonly consumed drink in the world behind water and tea

why not share the worlds joy with friends

Re: The Beer Garden

Ah yes @TAB

Dad and I are both first-born - and Dad found some cool ways of making up things for me - like teaching me to shoot - and not my bro - and taking me to the museum and other outings of an unusual nature -

Some people have been shocked when I have told them I learned to shoot when I was say 11 or 12 - a guess this would not happen nowdays - but then we had a rabbit plague and farmers were happy enough to have us on their land clearing some of the pests

Why not have a little story - these rabbits we ate so many of - never liked the gamey taste much - never had names - but my Gran had a story about the pet pig and Christmas dinner.

The family fed the pig for as long as it took - and it was Christmas Dinner and the family was large and poor - and they made a mistake - they gave the pig a name

And they sat down to eat on Christmas Day - and one of the kids said "Where's Porky" and that was it - they couldn't find the pig and realised the meat on their plates was their pet

eeerrrrkkkk - how horrible - that was all the story I know and it was Gran's story - but I think the kids could have eaten the scraps given to Porky with the idea of their having a feast on Christmas Day.

Oh dear

Re: The Beer Garden

Oh, @Former-Member Take care and look after yourself. It's not easy being up and down all the time, I know. It's very frustrating.

Does mindfulness help you? Do you have ways that help you cope?
It's ok if you don't feel like replying.
At times I don't feel like chatting, like when I'm feeling really low.

I struggle every day with how I feel and my negative thoughts (negative thoughts about how hard everything is because I'm so exhausted etc).

Anyway, my psycholgist said to feel/acknowledge my bad feelings/thoughts and let them pass.

I've never accepted my bad feelings. But the truth is they are normal too and they do pass. So I'm trying this approach. I think it is helping. And the more I practice mindfulness the more I'm noticing that it is helping. It all takes time, but it's good to try something that can help.

Sorry for the raving on. I just wanted to share what I'm working on, because I know we both are often up and down. I hope you can find what helps you.

Big hug to you, sleep well and I hope tomorrow is better. I've started telling myself. "This will pass". I know it does get tough, but it does pass. xoxo 😙❤

@TAB

I never got to use Dad's guns alone and I never owned one

But I learned to fire 3 of Dad's guns - a shot gun, a .22 rifle and the smaller of two hand guns - a .32 I think

The 12 gauge and the .45 automatic where too heavy

Now I could be wrong about the size of these guns now - except the shot gun. I went shooting with some of the guys once and I was the only one who potted the rabbit - too small for a feast - but eaten at home. My mother was less than pleased and this time I don't blame her
