The Beer Garden

The Beer Garden

i encourage you all to join me for some casual drinking, social lubrication and light laughter right here in the beer garden.

Oh and before anyone gets up in arms about alcohol and its dangers the main beer on tap is VB or virtual beer

beer is the third most commonly consumed drink in the world behind water and tea

why not share the worlds joy with friends

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

Thank you so much for your message

You have made some quite accurate observations about myself, and I have gained confidence since joining this forum, and I feel this will continue to occur. I am quite reserved and quiet but at times I can be quite engaging and outgoing too.

It did help me by writing some of thoughts down last night and some of my questions were answered as I went through process of writing things down here. I find it amazing how you get what I am trying to say and that confirms to be what I am thinking does make sense. I'm not sure if that as came out right though.

I have been seeing her long time and I do have another appointment next Thursday went is not too long away. I do feel a bit scared/intimidated by her and I honestly don't know why. I just to have to figure what I am going to do. I think I will articulate some stuff down before my appointment, I used to do this a long time ago with her.

I guess I am not that comfortable with the diagnois I feel she is just trying to put me in a box. I knwo BPD diagnosis, it does have quite a bit of stigma attached to it. I do know when I started having problems and by that stage my personality was establised and I think I have more complex PTSD.

Perhaps I don't know how to end this relationship and its difficult because of the length of time since I started seeing her, and plus I was still a very young girl. A lot of what she was doing I probably didn't understand. But I think I can't beat myself up about this- but then I did have quite a lot of insight even before I started treatment. In a way I think its power part on her side by not telling me the diagnosis earlier in my treatment, because I did frequently asked her hat was wrong with me and a few years into the relationship she said there was nothing wrong with me. At the time I just forgave her, and also by that stage I had been seeing her a number of years. The point trying to make is that I was quite attached to her by that stage, I do feel like their was not enough structure and direction in my treatment. I think what as happen in the past I think I need to leave there and focus on the steps I need to make to move forward.

I hope can get some more support next week and she can reassure as what to way we will be moving forward. Some feeback mite give some ideas as what way I should proceed and if you think I am track- I am not sure. Thanks for reading my post @Faith-and-Hope

Re: The Beer Garden

@Appleblossom It was traits of Borderline Personality Disorder but I don't meet the full criteria just a few of the traits. But to me that is even stretched and the symptoms are quite vague. But it funny because we have never even discussed any of the symptoms.

I think I can dwell on what as happen in the past, if its affecting me now I wil deal with but if not I think I will just leave it in the past. I think life is too short to be looking at the past because it keeps me stuck and focused on the pain, and I miss so much in the here and now.

For me a diagnosis is quite subjective and to me I think I have more of an anxiety problem and that kind were problem lies. Some of the traits can be confused with depression, anxiety and dsythmia. I've heard it does not really matter about the diagnosis because basically they treat patients the same unless you have someone really good.

I am hoping what I am writing makes sense- do you want to add anything else?

Re: The Beer Garden

Hello @Former-Member, I feel same..quite tired, I've some new goals to cut sugar, change some thinking but I find it's hard work to solely help self when I have others to care for.
I think having mastitis threw my body around, I don't normally feel a real sense of what's the point, needing to rest in the day, then getting up rolling the motions. I realize probably low periods trigger the well ingrained thought patterns, that no longer serve me.
I don't know that I felt a 'Yeh' moment, maybe I'm feeling annoyed at self too, it's just ni easy fix.
I understand it takes time, sigh...many facets of myself I give away and have not allowed myself to live.
I'm just really tired...I want to find more authenticity, and I'm working on this...
I hope you rest well...I was going to say maybe your therapist hasn't chosen emdr yet as you are voicing well to her, and she believes this path for now is leading to where u need to go?
I think this is what my psych thinks...she's a thinker, not a pleaser....so I'm trusting her depth of understanding...let's see where it takes us I guess..for now 😊❤

@ocean girl73, I'm finding what you say very interesting, and clear...I think high anxiety is attributable to many diagnosis..but your therapist would be seeing other things. I feel same as you, re..no discussion of it but she has mentioned things then we move onto other discussion each time...it's confusing for sure.
