Hi @Former-Member
I have done some visiting in my life - my father's mother was in a nursing home for 13 years - and I visited her nearly every week - I was recorded by the staff alone with my uncles as a regular visitor - I could just walk in when I felt like it - and did
So - one day I mentioned to the staff that my grandmother liked a glass of beer - and would it be okay if I brought one in for her now and again. They looked at the ceiling and said to each other "Did you hear anything? No? Well - of course we don't care about what we don't know about"
So I took that as a yes - I could take my grandmother a cold tinnie - and I did - and she loved it and maybe as she got older - there would be days when she decided she didn't want visitors - but when she heard that tinnie clink on the glass she woke up really fast
She has long gone - it was a great treasure that I had the chance to spend so much time with her in the last years of her life
Visiting the elderly is a wonderful thing - but yes - they do die and I have lost enough people - I know this is the way of the world and I will lose more - but it is something to think about
I decided to make a friend a cup of tea in a pot - I like the whole ceremony thing too - but I have lost my taste for tea - and I don't drink much coffee either - my other grandmother ruled the teapot - heaven help anyone who cleaned the teapot - in fact in my lifetime no one did - but we were warned.
My friend said the tea I made in the teapot was great - I didn't like it one bit - I know other people swear by it - but alas to me it tastes terrible - and I don't know why
Great to chat @Former-Member-
