Christmas Loungeroom

Christmas Loungeroom

For all those who are both celebrating and avoiding Christmas this year the Chistmas Loungeroom is a place for us all to hang out. It is especially for those who will be alone throughout this Christmas period and as a place to come together and enjoy the company of others in what can be a difficult time for many.

Feel free to post your stories, images, grievances, etc. of this period and to leave messages for other members to help each other get through this time of year.

Christmas day can be extra hard for some so this is a place for us all to get together on the day and share it with other members.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

Such avslap in the face when not invited to join 'the group' TAB & QUEENIE. Last year my Psychologist helped me work through some of this with Primal Therapy (think that's what she called it). A lot about how its in our genetic makeupmakeup to have strong urge to be a working part of a GROUP. She pointed out that this was the case for survival back in the stoneage, hunter/gatherer caveman days, where being cast out ofca group alone literally meant death. This is not the case nowadays with supermarkets and police officers and infrastructure etc. Being alone is OK and Christmas is just another day for us. Be nice if our 'family' would actually 'act' like family at Christmas at least, but you know, I finally realised recently
- I'm better off without them.
- God has taken them out of my life for a reason I will learn later
- Family is not just genetics, its whoever's treating you with love, support, respect, and acceptance and whoever celebrates your successes.

There I go saying to much again, its my worst trait.

@Former-Member .. Yes, there’s something about wanting to belong. Even if you just think you have to re family sometimes. @Bella

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

RAZZLE, you must miss your 9yo 😞 Life is not fair. It took me ages to realise that the way people treat us (who have lost a child & so many others in grief), that it has very little to do with us as people and everything to do with their inability to face reality - that this could happen to them. Their worst nightmare. Its not us they are rejecting (beautiful souls we are) but the circumstance. They run andvhide because of fear - of what they might have to feel if they stay close or spent time with us. They don't want to be such AH, just don't trust themselves to handle the emotions that may come up when they look usvin the eye, its palpable, real and uncomfortable, of cause they want to run, most. Its only those with life experience and maturity and self awareness and or compassion who really know what to say, how to walk with us a while. Frankly, those unable to stay have become redundant as friends - they prove themselves shallow and it is you who have outgrown them. Move on - meet new. I light a candle for my baby whenever I think of her. It's just what it is.

Hand to task is the only way fwd

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

@Former-Member It is a place for anyone who to come together whether you like or dislike - Christmas - it is explained better on the first post on page 1 as @TAB mentioned. It was also started for people who will be alone on Christmas day to gather here if they need.want company but the lead up can be just as challenging so it is also for anyone to vent their frustrations/dislike/grievances with this time of year. We also have some people that like Christmas so it is a place for them also - so it is an all inclusive thread for everyone's views and opinions around this time of year.

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

Shout out to anyone who’s doing it tough re Christmas as in nowhere to stay, no food etc. All the rest is insignificant compared to that.
Yes, no one irl talking to me. Yes, not seeing relatives including ones about to die. Yes. Had a bad day at work yest. ... but.. ok, yes , going to donate to foodbank and or salvos again. Mum used to take xmas dinners to people in need. And that brass bowl on xmas dinner table re Save the Children. She never said anything. Just put it there. F
