Well, it's Monday again...

Well, it's Monday again...

Hello @Former-Member, @PeppiPatty, @BlueBay, @Strugglingmum, @CherryBomb, @Shaz51, @Appleblossom, @Angels333, @NikNik and anyone else I missed.

Well, Monday is here again & the beautiful weather continues around me. I hope everyone had a good weekend without too many up & downs. I know a few of you have a lot of things coming up over the next few days & hope it all goes well.

So how is everyone going today?

For me, I don't know really. Since yesterday I feel myself slipping down a little. The energy & motivations I've been experiencing over the last few weeks seem to be ebbing. I've got a few things I have to do over the next few days and I really don't feel up to facing them. I find I'm even putting simple things off over the last few days, and getting frustrated easily. Hopefully this is only a short term thing and will pass.

I always fear slipping into one of my depressive episodes. They seem to last so long & be so hard to get on top of. I just disconnect from the world. And once I do re-connect I just never know how to approach people, both in real life & online, that I had been in contact with. Last time it happened I disappeared from social media, forums & other online activities for more than 12 months. I only got back on Facebook at the end of January and only re-activated my Twitter today!

I've been in contact with more family & friends online in the last month than I have ever been. Even when I used to be online before I would hide my presence, not letting most people know I was there. This time I haven't held back at all and I really don't want to lose that again. Am I worrying needlessly? Is it just a 'normal' down time? I have no idea.

Sorry all, this post is beginning to look like me just getting my thoughts out there.

But I am really interested to know how everyone is going today. Hopefully there will be a few good news stories around to help lift my mood.

As always, take care, stay safe.

Hi @Drac0

Nothing wrong with getting your thoughts out there!

And I think it is excellent that you are aware of your moods, and signs that may mean you are 'slipping' as you say. Some people are not aware of warning signs, so they see things too late. But if you are able to notice your feeling abit down, then you should be able to put some strategies into place - talk to someone (like you have done, which is a great first step)

what other strategies have you used in the past?

Re: Well, it's Monday again...

Hi @Former-Member, thanks for the reply.

I've spent so much time around here lately supporting, caring & worrying about others I forget how hard it is for me to deal with my own issues at times.

Being able to recognise my moods is something that started a few years ago, after getting my diagnosis & meds changed. Prior to that I would just go up & down without any realisation it was happening. Sadly I still don't know how to deal with it. No real strategies, but being aware of it seems to temper it a little.

I've kept myself alone & isolated for so long I really have no-one I'm close to & certainly no-one I would ever sit down & talk to about it all. Closest I have is my mother, but she's 80 this month & has enough on her plate. And I know that if I do tell her things, even that I'm feeling unwell with a 'normal' illness, she worries & loses sleep over it.

Maybe being around here with the number of caring & supportive people I've already seen will help some. Just trying not to lock myself away from everything again.

Take care.

Hi @Drac0

My monday was crap. Woke up sick. Went out last night and had Thai food and one glass of wine and within 1/2 hour I was sick, ended up in hospital but left because it was far too busy. Woke up and was sick. Still feel crap. I normally work but took the day off as I had a psych appt in the afternoon. So hubby took today off too and we had to go to Centrelink reg. his mum and permanent aged care.

Came home and we took our dog for a walk - that was okay.

Went to my psych appt (see other post) - well that was confronting, emotional, - i hated it completely; and as a result I hate myself as well

Had accupuncture done after psych session - that did help calm me down for a little while

Now home and supposed to cook tea (hubby went to see his mum) but i am on here crying and writing to you

I totally understand @Drac0 the low moods and feeling like doing nothing. This is how i am at the moment. Glad to see you have been in contact with some of your family members that is really nice and special.

Hello @BlueBay, looks like there's a few of us around where the new week hasn't exactly had the start we hoped for.

Sorry the dinner out didn't turn out as expected. I'm sure a trip to hospital wasn't on the evenings agenda. A trip to Centrelink too? Oh what fun.

I've read your other thread and will probably say something once I can get my head around it all. Was certainly hoping for a much better result for you. Never tried acupuncture, what is that like? Sounds relaxing if you can actually fall asleep with all those needles in you.

Hope you have something simple planned for dinner, sounds like you don't need to be doing too much right now.

Being in contact with more of my family has been good. Just wish I was close enough to them to be able to talk about things.

Take care & keep safe. *HUGZ*

Re: Well, it's Monday again...

Hi @Drac0 , my day has been so so today. Thank you for asking. I love hearing your thoughts, I find them such a treasure if that makes sense? I'm a bit more stressed tonight than this morning. I had started back at work and just the disorganization gave me the shits, maybe you can tell I need to be organized maybe some sort of control makes me feel better?

The arvo was about running around work, driving everywhere picking up the kids, listen to the baby cry at the back till she fell asleep and the older one keep saying she's hungry. The drive involved me just putting the radio a bit higher than usual. Then they fell asleep for half an hour (bliss)

All the things I listed for me to do on Sunday went out the window, I only crossed out two which was laundry and clean. Instead I made food to last us the whole 2 weeks of dinners and school lunches (can never go wrong with sausage rolls) so I don't have to stress there's no food when we come back home at night. Or be running around a headless chook in the morning to pack lunch.

Still not called an appointment for the gp, I don't know why I'm delaying it... I will get there. Right now my focus is on Saturday to get to the alanon meeting.

Totally agree to what @Former-Member is saying about being aware of your moods and I guess that is the one of the hardest things is what you can do to put strategies in when you don't know what you can do. And being aware of it has helped a little, such a big step when you reflect back to when you couldn't recognize your moods. It must be so hard to have the only person in your family to talk to is your mum, and like all parents all you do is worry about your children and like you said you don't want her to worry about it especially at her age. Maybe now that you have a more online presence with Facebook you might find that you find one friend or family member to talk to about your feelings or grow close to them that you feel safer if that is what you want. I know it's hard. Yesterday I actually put that wellness quote on Facebook and posted that if any of my friends needed to talk and hash tagged it that everyday is r u ok day. I actually chatted to 2 people, who found that was a relief for them to see and talked what was going through their own thing.

I'm off to bed as an early day tomorrow again! And I leave you with a positive note... I just found out that the shop near me sells Ben and Jerry ice cream.... So had a scoop tonight and didn't tell the kids hehehe (my self care)

Take care and definatey going to be sending you some good vibes!!!

Re: Well, it's Monday again...

Sounds like a busy day @Strugglingmum. First day back at work is always stressful, hope it gets easier as the week progresses. Take a few days to get organised again.

At least you got a couple of things done on Sunday & set yourself up to make things easier over the next couple of weeks. My Sunday ended up being a nothing day spent lazing in front of the fan. I'm glad mum cancelled getting together yesterday afternoon, I wasn't really up to it. Took a little bit of a walk this afternoon, I needed to get out, and went and saw her for a little while.

You sound like me & making appointments. For some reason I can't get around to doing it. And I need to as well. Got a few things to talk about & time for the medical review for my license. Really have to do it soon.....

Good to hear you are so focused on the alanon meeting, hope you feel a little more comfortable this week so you can perhaps get a little more out of it.

Being able to feel moods & emotions is a strange thing when it first starts happening. But it is good because, as I said, it seems to make things a little easier to deal with even if I still have no control over it.

I do have one online friend I chat to most days but she doesn't know a fraction of what goes on and like most people who haven't 'been there' she doesn't really understand. She's sort of like one of those 'you're as happy as you choose to be' type people. But she makes my smile & can lift my mood a little when we chat. I just wish I could be social enough in real life to find someone that is willing to try & understand, that I could talk to face to face.

Hey, stop hogging that Ben & Jerry's - share it around!

Take care, sleep well.

Re: Well, it's Monday again...

Hi @Drac0 how have things been for you today?

Totally get the face to face thing, sometimes it's so much easier online. I can totally relate, but it's getting harder and harder because we're all in such a world of online everything. I have decided to log off Facebook for a while. have social media detox and just pick up the phone and call people and make actual plans to catch up. Another thing on my list 😕

Re: Well, it's Monday again...

Hi @Strugglingmum, you booked that doctors appointment yet?

Today wasn't so bad thanks. I'm treasurer for the local branch of a charity organisation and today was our monthly meeting so got me out for a few hours. I don't mind doing it, but I do distance myself from getting more involved. I'm too unreliable to try and commit to more.

Last time I switched off Facebook it took me more than 12 months to turn it back on! Then I faced the difficulty of starting to talk to people I used to. I didn't know (and still don't) how to approach them after disappearing so suddenly and for so long. Even now, after being back on it for about 6 weeks, besides the occasional family member I really only chat to 1 person on a regular basis. I think I may get back to chatting with another after her daughter posted a fantastic piece about being around someone with a mental illness. So truthful & understanding.

I think I'll share it here, it was so great to read this....

That message, from a young woman I don't know, just got to me. I wish more people would learn to think this way.

I hope you do switch off for a little while & find some comfort in actually talking to people.

Take care, stay safe.
