Lost and confused

Lost and confused

Hi I am new here. I had a major breakdown at my work 22 months ago, it lead to chronic severe major depressive disorder, long story short, I have spent over 100 days in hospital this year, due to severe suicidal thoughts and self harming. It was over 5 admissions, my work place of 24 years has turned on me, even though my breakdown was their fault and I am on work cover, they said some things after my first hospital admission that really hurt me, and my condition got quite a bit worse that it was alredy, which was bad enough, my self harming is almost every day now when I am not in hospital, last Monday I had to go to emergency medical attention, and even though I said I didn't feel safe they only kept me overnight. Seems I have spent too much time in hospital now and they just want to send me home asap. I see a psychiatrist every week and a psychologist every week as well, my psychiatrist also wants to keep me out of hospital, which is why I see them both weekly. I have managed not to self harm for 5 days since Monday's hospital visit, but did slip up in a minor way today, I still am, so I am not liking my chances of being able to resist the urge for too much longer. I feel like even going to emergency is a waste of time for me now, as they just want to send me home. I feel like my life is over, and I am just breathing, waking up, surviving and going back to sleep, my work place even though I am still employed there for now (haven't been there this year due to not fit to work on my certificate), they won't let me on the propery and also have banned some my workmates from talking to me, and others have just chosen to abandon me, and I miss working and miss my workmates despite their betrayal. But I can barely get through a day without a major struggle, and don't cope with any stress.

Re: Lost and confused

I do talk about it to certain people.

After my slip up last night I had to go to gp for wound care, he contacted my psychiatrist who will see me tomorrow, I see my psychologist on Thursday.

Re: Lost and confused

I am glad you are getting some professionao MH support @skyehaven

If the urges are too strong and constant ... distract ... work ... walking ... music ... talking on the forum ... almost anything .. to help put time between you and your last slip ... the further it goes back in time ... the more other feelings and urges will be able to come and send you on better pathways.

Saw my psychiatrist today, he was concerned with my self harming getting worse yet again, and how intense my suicidal thoughts have been, he is changing one of my 4 medications, to see if helps at all. I am treatment resistant and nothing has worked well yet, except for making me fatter, which I don't need, and nee one can do this too. So frustrating. His getting fatter help with depression

Re: Lost and confused

Do you have a group or a psychologist or other mh worker who might help? Meds can help dampen the intensity, but that weight gain side effect plays havoc with our already fragile self esteem, so other protocols are necessary.

Re: Lost and confused

I have a psychologist I see both her and my psychiatrist weekly. My psychologist is fairly new, so still a lot to work out together. My last psychologist was lovely, worked on coping strategies a lot and cbt etc. But didn't really improve me it all, I was still devastated when I couldn't see her anymore as despite me not getting better she gave me a glimmer of hope. My new one is trying to get into my head, it will be a challenge as no one else has.

Re: Lost and confused

Last night I didn't want to try to sleep until I was ready to pass out, because I was scared once my head hit the pillow again, my demons would take over like they have lately. I was scared I would lose and act on my thoughts, not just the self harm ones, but the suicidal ones. I feel like it worked, but only 3 hours of broken sleep. I want to do same tonight.
