Cold turkey

Cold turkey

Decided to go off my meds.

Lots of reasons. I know it's not wise, but it's what I have decided is right for me.

How do I cope with the side effects of no meds and how long will it last?

Hi @Former-Member

Loving the pictures. It's a great distraction. Do you have someone you can speak to right now? Unfortunately, we are not a crisis service, but some places you can call now for support are;

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Going off shift now.. but the next moderator is here ready to watch over you

Take care

Re: Cold turkey

@Former-Member Your cat clearly doesn't think that you're a failure, which is a pretty good thing.

My old cat used to be a reason for me not to hurt myself too.
One day when I had the thoughts stuck in my head all day, I got home and had to feed the cat first thing because she was meowing. I figured I could do that then get on with the thing my mind had been stuck on all day. There was a bit of dry food at the end of the box which I started to pour directly into her bowl on the floor.
But in her eagerness to get food, she headbutted the box. The dry food and food dust from the end of the box went all over her fur. It was the funniest thing and completely changed my plan for the afternoon.

Just hoped a funny cat story might be a little bit helpful.

I'm not feeling very well.

Re: Cold turkey

I feel so dirty and ashamed.
I'm worried what my therapist thinks of me.
I'm worried I'm a bad person.
I'm worried I shouldn't be alive.

Re: Cold turkey

Those sound like some difficult worries to have @Former-Member. Are they something for which you have done "reality checking" with your therapist?

Re: Cold turkey

It's not that kind of therapy really.

Hi @Former-Member. It's good to see you again. I am rocking a dinosaur in my avatar ☺

When do you see your therapist again? I know you've had some troubling thoughts about what your therapist thinks of you before. I don't remember whether you asked therapist what their thoughts are about your worries (sorry if you have and I forgot). Could it be helpful to ask them?
