My life partner has Bipolar ii

My life partner has Bipolar ii

I unapologetically care for my husband who after a long mental health crisis has been diagnosed with Bipolar ii + more.

It is a tough gig at times but I believe we can live well in spite of his diagnosis.

I understand that not all relationships can survive a diagnosis and this is no criticism or judgement on anyone but in this thread I would love to give to and receive encouragement from others who hold the same value I have, that is that I voluntarily chose to remain in union with my husband to the exclusion of others and to ride out the bumps of his mental illness.

Dubious humour is guaranteed.

A good drive is superb... especially in the country... helps one forget the goings on we live in right now...

A quick forum tip, if you type in a @ symbol you will get the option to tag other forumites as I have done with you, this lets them know you have mentioned them and they will get an email alert.

Have you any hobbies? We do have some lovely social discussion threads.

Must admit to feeling a touch alone sometimes... partners in likeminded situations dealing with similar illnesses.. will help I reckon. I know I need help... bit battle weary all in all

@Totman

It can be a hard slog, things certainly picked up for Mr Darcy & I when I educated myself and learned how to support him in a healthy way.

Re: My life partner has Bipolar ii

Hard slog... now theres a term !!!

The process of actually getting a real identified diagnosis... discovering the expansive world of medication and what works... looooooooooong journey... my wifes family regard me as the unqualified psychiatrist.... I have unimpressed a few psychiatric registrars... but they deserved my response...

My wife and I are im a good place the past few years... the rediculous part... is when she is good... my "ghosts from the process of being the Carer"... show themselves.

Dont get me wrong though.... Im in s good place myself
