My life partner has Bipolar ii

My life partner has Bipolar ii

I unapologetically care for my husband who after a long mental health crisis has been diagnosed with Bipolar ii + more.

It is a tough gig at times but I believe we can live well in spite of his diagnosis.

I understand that not all relationships can survive a diagnosis and this is no criticism or judgement on anyone but in this thread I would love to give to and receive encouragement from others who hold the same value I have, that is that I voluntarily chose to remain in union with my husband to the exclusion of others and to ride out the bumps of his mental illness.

Dubious humour is guaranteed.

I believe that none of us is perfect and that we all say and do things that upset each other @Jay-e . When I look at older happy couples, commitment is a key feature of their relationship (along with a few other things).

Addressing hurtful behaviour in a healthy manner is something I had difficulty with, I still struggle a bit with it but can now say "I felt unappreciated when ..." if the situation calls for it, throwing in some empathy helps such as. "It is tough going through ... how can we best support each other through this as when you are hurting I also hurt and I feel we have not quite got this right"

Mr Darcy struggling mentally and physically 😔💔. It has been rough going post surgery. He didn't mention his post surgical pain to the doctors today ... tomorrow I will be asking the oncology team about this.

Just caught up on your latest news @Former-Member
Im sorry to hear abour Mr D, speaking with his oncology team sounds like a good idea. I hope ED can help you tonight though. Have you got any supports for yourself? I know how hard it is watching someone in pain and not knowing what to do esp when pain meds and things aren't working

😞 Not good. Am thinking his immune system is probably already low?
Hope they can transfer him, and that he recovers soon.
