Another year done, so what's next?

Another year done, so what's next?

I'm not one for New Year's resolution, but when the year ends I do like to take a moment to pause to reflect over the past year, and to think about what my hopes are for the next year.

For me, this achievement this year was being able to do yoga consistently for one year. I started it, hoping that I would learn a bit about discipline, and one year later, I'm pleased to say that, thanks to an amazing teacher, I've learned about devotion, and practice several times a week.

In 2016, I'm hoping to continue with yoga, and applying it's lesson to everyday life - being calm in the face of adversity, laughing at myself, and being kind to myself and others.

What about you? What are your highlights and achievements of 2015 and their hopes for 2016?

You're welcome! Storm the bastille! Down with fascism! Pull the nose of every 'normal' person you meet and run away laughing!

it's actually not that funny, overall, our situation, but there certainly are ways to make it work for one and praying on it will help. i hope people benefit from what i've been through and my mistakes - oh, dear, my mistakes! x 😞 🙂

Late reply to you @PeppiPatty, sorry. I was staying with my family and I had internet but no privacy so I didn't come here. I'm back home now and glad about that 🙂

Re: Another year done, so what's next?

@Peter_Pan78 - awesome! A friend who is a published author once told me, when we were discussing the craft of writing books - Write what you know - sound advice and you know your lived experience. The other bit of advice she gave that is really important - is to sell the book first - I bought a book about how to write book proposals there are a few out there, do some research on how the publishing industry 'works' - the editors read hundreds of wannabe authors, and a kick ass proposal that includes a chapter (not necessarilyt the 'first' chapter either, a good synposis and a pitch to who the audience is... (is it people living with mental ill health, for health professionals, is it for families? ) research what other books are out there in the genre, read their synposis, go to good reads see what people are reading about in terms of mental health pitch in a similar vein but with a new twist .... all of this helps set you up as an 'author'.

Another useful thing is write then edit, edit hard, hone the passages - find out how many pages most books about authobiogrpahical subject are and stick ruthlesslety to that number of pages. Think about segues that can jump years of ecperience if there are many 'similar' incidences etc.

In the end the editors will go through it with a lice comb forenisic and change and cut and rearrange, we have to be prepared that 'our baby' will be criticised to make it 'better' for the market, we cannot hang on with an umbilical cord at that point or it would do our head in. 🙂

Best of luck with it! Look forward to hearing how it goes. May the Muse be with you!
