Loneliness

Loneliness

Lately I've been feeling incredibly lonely and it feels like there's nothing I can do about it. I have no friends outside of the people I know online. I can't hang out with anyone. I never leave the house because I'm afraid I'll have a panic attack.

I've also become addicted to something (not drugs, but something embarrassing that I don't want to mention publicly) to replace the feeling that I would normally get if I were socialising often.

Re: Loneliness

are you ok? TALK TO US. I'm going to assume that you're sleeping at the moment. Please let us know AS SOON AS YOU CAN that you are ok or we will have to try to get someone to contact you somehow (NOT the mental health system). I am praying for you xxxx

Hi Terry,

it's lovely you have such concern for people. There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes here to try and keep people are safe and we have quite thorough procedures in place to manage such concerns.

Please be assured that the moderators read and review every post, and that they follow up any concerns regarding people’s safety

Re: Loneliness

Sure, apart from friends, God, Lifeline and these forums, I also find that the staff at the local mental health drop-in centre take my calls if they can, if i'm distressed. Of course, you have to go to the local mental health drop-in centre to get to know them, and once there, these centres are a rich source of networking, social life and support. If a person was really struggling, they could certainly ring up a local mental health drop-in centre and see if someone there could listen to them; then, once they had gotten out of the house, going to these centres is a good idea. There are a few lovely support workers at the local centre who support me over the phone through a lot of things. I can recommend building a relationship with your local mental health drop-in centre. The world is a source of support in all sorts of ways when you learn how to find it. The churches will help as much as they can. There's a few things I try not to do these days: put any undue pressure on myself at all, blame myself for my situation in life (on pension), etc. It has been said of me that I give very good advice but don't take my own advice, so you can all keep me in your prayers too, if you like! god bless and take good care 🙂

Woah! Misstiramisu: here's what you do: pick up the phone and call Lifeline (13 11 14) STRAIGHT AWAY and talk your stuff out, as many times as you need to, until you start to feel more hope. We will stay online for you. We are HERE for you. You CAN get through this. Call Lilfeline NOW, and keep calling them until you start to feel better. We're online for you too NOW and I will stay online until you start to feel better. Call Lifeline straight away until you start to feel better and then come back to us online. You CAN get through this. God bless you.
