losing clinical mental health support

losing clinical mental health support

I lost my my clinical mental health support (my fault) last week. I was wondering if other people who lost there support have found the transition from having support to no support difficult.

Re: losing clinical mental health support

I had a year without a psychologist and managed reasonably well, though when I lost my gp through his ill health and had to find a new one, anxiety kicked in and I found the little bumps knocked me around a bit more.

Hi @Bobby2015 Is it your gp or the counsellor? My old gp was very understanding and kept insisting I had the right to be comfortable with my psychologist and that he was prepared to write out ner referrals.

applebossom it was my psychologist/psychiatrist/case manager. My GP unfortunately doesn't know anyone else who specialises in bpd so they cant refer me yet to anyone else.

Was it a team of 3?

When you say your fault ... were you dissatisfied with them ... or did you have a melt down or something?

Re: losing clinical mental health support

Yes it was a team of 3 who saw me. I walked away because of a few issues with staff and the manager saying l lied. I asked to leave them. Intake were asked to take me back and was told they wouldn't consider me again

Hi @Bobby2015,

I think it's understandable to feel like you're struggling after loosing support.

Having support is so important for our well-being, whether it's clincial and family and friends, having people in our lives to support our emotional and psychological growth is vital.

What state are you in? Perhaps I, or some our other helpful members, on here can refer to a service that specialises in BPD.

I'm in Melbourne. I've tried most of the private like BPD clinic but the cost is to high unfortunately.

Have you tried Spectrum? They specialise in personality disorders.

Re: losing clinical mental health support

Yes I've tried spectrum and they are totally full and even closed their waiting List and couldn't help the GP

Re: losing clinical mental health support

Hi @Bobby2015

would you consider community mental health?

Mind for example supports clients with BPD's, or you may even like to consider the personal helpers and mentors (Pham's) operated by different community mental health NGO's across Australia.

It will depend on your area/postcode what might be accessible to you.

Also, it would be worth considering when approaching a service for support what it is that you need support around, and what are some of your recovery goals.
