Fragile

Fragile

For a while I have tried to find a thread I had started when I joined the forum that could be a "home" thread for me.

Being busy about the forum has been a coping style, where I can acknowledge all my different life experiences that had been silenced. Possibly do some good and prevent things from getting worse. Like the little boy with the finger in the dyke.

Re: Fragile

@Appleblossom One of my MAJOR struggles has been the media misrepresentation of DID. Also the lack of psychiatrists who believe it exists. I understand how difficult it might be to believe, but every mental illness is, as well as many physical illnesses. I no longer mention it, as reactions were too stressful for me, and I began worrying about Drs and their response, so ended up concerned for them instead of the reason I was there to begin with.

Some good literature is coming through now, along with professionals, thought they are few, who believe us. A very lonely road.

Re: Fragile

Hearing you @Maggie I don't have any experience or knowledge about DID so can't really say anything about it. Sounds very challenging. I agree with you about stigma in the media generally.

@Appleblossom love what you say about chickens coming home to roost, and that it's giving you strength and meaning. Yes it's probably just as well you haven't decked anyone!!!

@Maggie

Hugs. I had hoped your new place would be more inclusive and secure.

I hear how isolated you must have felt, when the people you were hoping for help were not able to give it. Trauma and dissociation and working through it needs the dedication of an informed worker, there is not enough attention gievn to the personal biases of individual therapists ... it is a tricky field ,,,, in the mean time ... we struggle on.

Ha ha /// @eth

I had a lovely weekend away with a whole lot of lovely people, and dug into old networks ... no urges to deck anyone ... and I even saw deck of cards ... and a crew playing 500 ... felt very comfortable with the group.

Came home to double dishes ... but was encouraged to eat a yummy eggy mess and my son loaded and emptied my car ... so finding levels ...not worth being upset about.

Thank you @eth

Nice to talk in real time and to another adult now that I am home. Maybe things will take a turn in my life. SLowly slowly.

Re: Fragile

Hi @Appleblossom I logged out before your post back to me. So sorry we didn't get to chat last night. Knowing you, you're probably busy today. Hope all goes well for you. Day at home for me.

I agree with you re slowly slowly - it's still baby steps for me most of the time, but these days I don't go the 2 steps backward as often.
