Fragile

Fragile

For a while I have tried to find a thread I had started when I joined the forum that could be a "home" thread for me.

Being busy about the forum has been a coping style, where I can acknowledge all my different life experiences that had been silenced. Possibly do some good and prevent things from getting worse. Like the little boy with the finger in the dyke.

@Dimity

"anecdotes as antidotes" lol Human life is very story based, and when there are healing images or words ... I guess we treausre them ... my concentration is not as good for reading these days. Maybe I will get back to it ... I just tend to dip into books briefly....these days .... did some sight reading at the piano today...

I am mindful ... you are also going through a lot atm.

@Emelia8 Here on the forum is the first time I had felt a sense of belonging. I still remember your old trauma thread. Being able to be real about the hard stuff, and feeling seen, and then I feel it is possible to get into the lighter and more optimistic thoughts and feelings.

I had an interesting morning, where I was feeling a little overwhelmed by a lady socially, could step away, but not totally withdraw from the group, and mention it without making a big deal, and then later she realised, apologised and we kept talking. Stuff like that had never happened before. SO something is shifting .."in the universe" for me. My change is that I am more vocal and better able to process 'in the moment". Being on the forum these yeas has helped me learn.... not.... to clam up and withdraw

Thank you all

Sending a cooee to @Zoe7 and @Faith-and-Hope

Re: Fragile

Good for you @Appleblossom , when connections can develop organically with give and take... you can live up to your name and blossom. I vaguely remember you had an old thread called something like sociology 101.

Yes I'm still battling. I find myself unduly reactive sometimes eg to forum problems. I'm working through old records which can be triggering, and my family situation is far from resolved.

My concentration and eyesight aren't brilliant for reading. My piano lid has been unopened for a verrrrry long time.

If you can keep quietly humming along as a continuo while others have the dramatic flourishes you should get by... and you're still accompanying them.

Re: Fragile

@Dimity I think the old thread you meant that I had started was called "Learning about Relationship Boundaries". It was 2015! I reread it recently. It gave me a lot of gratitude for the time I have spent pouring my heart and soul out, here on the forums, and some of the old and past members. I dont really have a big sense of what is or is not acceptable for how I am treated. I never had good social support in place. Hope you dont mind me tagging you here. My way of being "in the world" has changed a lot since I joined here. I was so quiet and tentative in real life. I gradually gained more confidence, in physicality, from typing and writing on the forum. It took a while for my actual mouth to loosen up and find words that strung together and made sense.

I also saw read your old Discernment thread, I had it in my Favourites.

@Chasingsunsets @Realness @heartathome

Hugs @Emelia8 I remember some of your old threads too.

@AuntGlow Are you still around? Have the hours been cut back on all the peer workers, or some been let go? There seems a definite shift on the forum. Although some of the newer ones seem lovely. The personalities matter as, there are so many aspects of the mental health system that is a bit automatic and mechanistic, so the real people matter.

Hope you are all doing alright.

I have a big week ahead.

Re: Fragile

Thanks @Appleblossom 😊💕 some of us "old timers" have been around for a long time 😂

Like you, I have gained confidence, and found my voice to a degree, thanks to my interactions with the many lovely Sane members over the years. 👍

Re: Fragile

@Appleblossom thanks that may be the thread but I'd thought it was a newer one you'd started a couple of years after I joined in 2018. The title always made me think of my first year uni subjects like Math Methods 101, and it referenced learning the art of social interaction and communication, until it devolved into general chat. One of the regulars was a lovely farmer/poet/raconteur @tonys .

Hello @Emelia8 I hope you and Hannah are going well.

Hi @Dimity 👋💞 and yes I remember the lovely Tony's 👍.

Thank you, yes Hannah and I are doing okay thanks 🙏

You may like this "cartoonified" pic a friend did of Hannah. She was experimenting with chatgpt and asked for a photo of Hannah that she could adapt. This is what she came up with. Cute aye? @Appleblossom
