Good you have moral support about the tree/s. @Dimity you read the other thread... lol
The one in our court predated me. I did not plant it, its on council land, and gives shade and helps a green corridor. I work around it, dont complain, use the fallings for mulch, keep it tidy. I had some healing moments when I first arrived in a new barren estate and all there was builders clay, the tree and cyclone fence ... I loved rubbing the seeds in my hands for the smell ... silly childish... my cat died under it. There are lots of plantings under and around, and the council works with me on it... does the odd prune.
There is still hope for discussion on the local issues if we dont get all divisive, and I'm right/he's wrong ... yes and no ... tends to polarise ... I am having lots of conversations that are good this week. Its no longer alright to make offhand racist comments, which used to make me cringe, and withdraw, and there is a shift in attitudes whatever the actual vote ... had a wonderful 2 hour conversation with a true blue Aussie farmer lady and Hong Kong Chinese lady about lots of aspects of different languages, culture, hybrid mix, and misunderstandings and joking and goodwill. Nuanced, heartfelt. Had dinner the night before with my arty beauty mechanicky friend ...who I adore.... we talked about the issues with care and respect. Hope the trickle effect changes hearts and minds ...
