Fragile

Fragile

For a while I have tried to find a thread I had started when I joined the forum that could be a "home" thread for me.

Being busy about the forum has been a coping style, where I can acknowledge all my different life experiences that had been silenced. Possibly do some good and prevent things from getting worse. Like the little boy with the finger in the dyke.

when you've already been through it, as you have, the fear must be torture. I'm so sorry. Praying love prevails 🌸💜🌸💜🌸

@Former-Member Yes it is torture, and a silent torture as I cant express it as it would make things worse.

To be honest, the therapist is helpful for my son but not for me. He was supposed to help for all the child abuse issues. I accept the need of having a good man for son to talk through things is important after all his isolation. However the therapist presumes a fair bit about me, which makes things extra difficult and we are walking line of me being retraumatised each session and managing all the driving. The therapist does not have a clue what it is to be a mother ... or to go through my experiences, and is far too symnpathetic to male issues .... tells me "he knows" etc ...and cuts me off a bit .... its better than nothing I guess.

Re: Fragile

@Appleblossom - really sorry you feel negated as a mother. SUCKS! I think they secretly blame parents, that was my mother's biggest fear with my first mh admission.
I'm not sure about "better than nothing" anymore, but we're forced to have them to access care, and funding, and welfare... It's all we have to work with. 😢 Even A&E don't want to know us. I'm over it.
If only these xperts and the system could treat the WHOLE family unit, it's so obvious.
Frustrates me all this waste of money then they deflected blame.
Where did we Go wrong? It all changed in the 80s when money became the priority in health care
All I can say in relating to sons psych is
- USE HIM !
- EXPECT NOTHING
- STAY DETACHED
- BE HUMBLE
- USE LISTS
- JOURNAL
- KEEP LOVING YOUR SON
- Build up your own resources.
- Expand family strengths.
- you know the drill Bella...
Does my head in all these loops they expect us to jump through.
Sorry but I'm so disillusioned with the system, & getting help.
I'm not very positive atm so take anything I say with a grain of salt today.
But I do hear you as a mum. We know our kids better than these arrogant 9-5ppl. It's so hard when it seems our absolute best is not good enough. Thank goodness we only have to endure their crap for a short 50min hour. (((((Hugzz)))))

Thanks for your support @Former-Member

I cant defend myself when my son says very immature things, and I think I have long term angina, maybe related to meds or long term trauma. It makes driving at speed on freeways difficult. Next time I go to Gp I will mention it. I think she already suspects which is why she was not keen on son coming back home.

Re: Fragile

Good read @ Appleblossom, I'm not sure how much of it we get to control, good and bad days included. Walking bundles of misfiring chemicals lol What a pain :face_with_rolling_eyes: Today i told my son I have bad cold and not to visit. Never done that before, love him to pieces but don't enjoy him as much these days (or anyone I guess), i feel too much of a bother / burden / duty to him (maybe depression talking). He's cancelled last 4 w'end since my birthday, and Friday when I asked if he's coming, said he's exhausted, only had 12hrs sleep all week re work, but plans to... ... it just seems he doesn't really want to see me, and it kills me, besides, he shouldn't drive in the rain with no sleep... so, I gave him an 'out' - and he took it 😞

Nothing to do with fight or flight, more like surrender 😢 Keep finding myself in bed anyway.

Oh well, Maybe I'll see him mother's Day. Be the first since he left home. He's got a great job now, a team, promotion, travel... And friends he even hung out with yesterday. We

can't say we 'NEED' them... just gotta... oops, failed this weekend. Sorry, I donno, maybe an
amygdala-hijack moment lol

Re: Fragile

You must have done a good job @Former-Member

I had a thought if mine would notice or respect Mother's Day. I am def in surrender mode .... Interesting; male friend has been doing little "yielding" tests. Yet it is not really an issue for me. Maybe I yield to much, which is why my son called me weak in the therapy session. There iare times when we are powerless, but maybe it is not true we are weak??
