Making order out of chaos

Making order out of chaos

hey forum

I think this a thread that I want to make because it is inspired by a book I'm reading at the moment

I think there is a lot of chaos in our lives due to mental illness so I think making a forum on things that work for us would be a good idea

I will start with an example from self care:

When I feel overwhelmed and worried and concerned about myself and my life I always must remember that I am better than where I ever was about 7 months ago

Evening lesson for today forumites.

I am thinking about all the things that I have thought and gone through over the past six months. I have made improvements in my mental health that I once could only dream of. I have been asking myself what changed and what went right. It was simply the process and practice of setting small goals and working towards them. Never underestimate the impact that small goals will have on you. I saw my psych recebtly and said that improving 0.01% per day is still improvement. I have spoken to many people on the forums here in my time and I think that this is something I notice. I can see what progress has been made in each of you and its encouraging to me. Thank you for being here and I hope you continue making those small improvements.

I have had a rough week this week delving into stuff that may be potentially upsetting to the whole rest of my family. It is a burden and if you wish to offer any help or share in your struggles too my other thread is there too.

Hope you all have a good evening so far and a good week ahead.

@MDT. A wonderful observation. Each small step adds up. This is how we become better. How we manage.
And yes, I've seen the changes in you. You are growing and reaching out for your goals.

Re: Making order out of chaos

You are so right @MDT incremental improvement, small goals, inch by inch. I can see from your posts over the past 6 months how far you have come, and how much you are supporting others. Love the Yoda quote.

Family stuff is really hard. I got super caught in the middle of my parents divorce. The details are horrible and I won't delve into it here. I was 15-17 but the repercussions last a lifetime. It is important to set boundaries for yourself in what you can and can't do in the situation. First and foremost, take care of you. Your greatest responsibility is to yourself.

Go well friend.

Hi @MDT Great post. I don't know what your other thread is, so if you want to tag me there I might be able to offer some ideas or lived experience.

Re: Making order out of chaos

Thank you @eth I will do so
@frog indeed, it's hard because it's such a out of the ordinary thing and it screws up a lot of the basic things I thought I knew about my family but anyway it is what it is. I agree with you about the greatest responsibility being myself. Need to ensure that remains solidly grounded.

Re: Making order out of chaos

I do so very much agree with your sentiments about small goals meaning a great deal @MDT. So, so true.

It's been a few years since I took on board the notion that my greatest responsibility is to myself instead of to others as I was raised to believe. It's sometimes hard going, but I try to keep faith in myself, it's all I have left to believe in.

Well done you for the progressions you have made in your life. Keep on keeping on.
