Making order out of chaos

Making order out of chaos

hey forum

I think this a thread that I want to make because it is inspired by a book I'm reading at the moment

I think there is a lot of chaos in our lives due to mental illness so I think making a forum on things that work for us would be a good idea

I will start with an example from self care:

When I feel overwhelmed and worried and concerned about myself and my life I always must remember that I am better than where I ever was about 7 months ago

Re: Making order out of chaos

@MDT, "a few days before" works OK for some things, but not others. You can plan a lunch out that way, but not a family holiday or a party. It's a real push to get myself to forward plan the things that do really need the lead time.

I'm not sure whether I'm more concerned with letting other people down, or letting myself down. I'm coming from a carers' viewpoint (although I do have depression issues myself as well). Being concerned for the well being of those I care for means that if our daughter needs support in hospital, and it's our wedding anniversary... well, I'm spending the wedding anniversary sitting in hospital. (Yes, it's happened. Love her heaps, not gonna stop loving her, but those times are hard for everyone.)

I always feel safe in hospital when I'm like this @MDT. So all good

Good to see you doing well @MDT

@MDT proud of you! Agree with @TAB cicumstances and MH is circular. It seems to me that you have grown so much that your MH issues are a smaller part of the whole. Not to say that they're any less, just that as you branch out they come more into perspective

Re: Making order out of chaos

Hi @MDT, agreed that the circumstances of our life affect our MH and the effect is the other way too. Observing your own responses and effects seems like a good way to go. There's no hurry to understand it all at once. Time gives us more experience and understanding in itself, if we listen well.

But regardless of mental health challenges, I see you as intelligent, self aware, determined and practical. These things will continue to see you in good stead over the longer term as well. I wish you success in your endeavours in life.

Yep @MDT

Mental Health and circumstances seems related to me.

I know some experts say that its not your circumstances (eg E Tolle), but if we distant too much from our circumstances .. then we dissociate .. and mind heart body connection gets stretched a bit thin.

Re: Making order out of chaos

Very well @Smc I didn't know you were also. Carer.
Love trumps all I think. Even if you are in the hospital. You are there. Is it your family member who is there or you? Not overly clear with what you said.
Either way thinking of you 🙂
