Seeking mutual support from carers

Seeking mutual support from carers

Reaching out to others who are in a caring role. I look after my mother with multiple health issues, including depression and anxiety. I feel stuck. I can see the signs that the depression has reared its head but my mum doesn't see it. I really struggle when my mum's mental health suffers. I too battle with depression and anxiety. Emotionally, I am all over the place. Hoping there are some others out there who understand what I'm going through.

@outlander

thanks for being understanding luv

mum loves my friends and they didnt want to come together, they were coming at different times but mum wasnt up to having visitors and i didnt want to push it. she can be a bit unreasonable atm too but im trying to keep the peace.

we do have home help once a fortnight luv but ive had to cancel it the past few times cause mum has been in hospital. i just feel other stuff is piling up (it probably isnt but in my head it is!)

yes, the bond between me and mum is very tight, and we have always been close. im the baby of the family and was mum's shadow when i was younger lol .. i think i still am her shadow haha! sounds like you and your nan were very close luv, it is very special when you can have a bond like that with someone - very rare xxx

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

hopefully you can have a friend over soon @Bella1978 i think it would be good for you. ease abit of that tension.

i think even if your mums in hosp make the time to be at home and let them do your house. itll be one less worry for you. everything has a wy of pileing up doesnt it, any small thing can seem very big. thats what it feels like for me too most of the time. remember to take a few breaths though ok, step back breathe then continue on.

my nan an d i were always close as i helped her alot when i was younger- even before knowing what a carer really was i just thought i was helping by doing the dishes or helping wiht cups of tea etc but i realise now it took some pressure off pop. we grew closer when she become more sick with cancer and worsening other conditions so i was supporting pop and her more through my high school yrs esp my hsc yrs. i dont regret i though, i regret some of the things i done but my care for her. no regrets. your right it is rather rare to build a bond like that up. they are the ones we cherish the most.

hugs

ive been sitting on the sofa and thinking i need to try and be more positive, im thinking worst case scenario over and over in my head and am stressing myself out more than i need to be!

im gonna go have a cuppa with mum now.

you are such a beautiful soul - i bet your nan loved having you around, having someone there to keep her company. and you both created special moments and memories together that you will have forever. thats what i always tell myself with my mum. i love the time i spend with her, and cherish her so much.

I was hanging off mama like a bad smell lol .. wanted to be close to her. She could only tolerate so much tho hehe ... and that is actually so unlike her. She loves the affection but not lately. I just sat on the sofa holding her hand 😊 and giving her kisses all over her face hehehe
I started thinking I still have her, and I need to continue cherishing the moments I have with her.
Your nan is looking over you sweetheart and would be so proud of you, looking after your pop.
❤💙💚💛💜💖💞💝💓💕💘💟❣ ooh so pretty 😄
