Seeking mutual support from carers

Seeking mutual support from carers

Reaching out to others who are in a caring role. I look after my mother with multiple health issues, including depression and anxiety. I feel stuck. I can see the signs that the depression has reared its head but my mum doesn't see it. I really struggle when my mum's mental health suffers. I too battle with depression and anxiety. Emotionally, I am all over the place. Hoping there are some others out there who understand what I'm going through.

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

nothing exciting @outlander. will go for my walk, think i need to get a couple of things from the shop, and probably do a load of washing. but im thinking i need to fill my day with things to do otherwise i will focus on mum too much and it will get me down too much. might even do some more mosaicing hehe. how about you luv? anything planned?

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

that sounds like a good idea @Bella1978 you can keep an eye on her while still doing your own things. maybe you could so some of your crosswords?

oh im busy and im dreading it very much so esp with one hand. i thought i was past this but gone backwards again 😕 need to pick up sisters and take them to school, then pick up kids, take one of them to their horse riding lesson waitin around (how convenient esp since ive been avoiding watching her ride!) then after that go pick up mums bf while mum is at work.

@outlander

how do you have time for yourself luv? you so busy with everyone else. when you refer to kids - thats your sisters yes? and pick up your mama's bf ?

i hope you dont mind me asking luv, and tell me to mind my business if i overstep the boundaries, but why doesnt your mum take your sisters to school and other outings?

x

Re: Seeking mutual support from carers

i dont really have time to myself @Bella1978

mum starts early of a morning so i do the kids of a morning except a day or 2 through the week but shes usually off on weekends so we spend time then. yep kids as in siblings.

my mother usually does take them to their outings like the lesson but she got called in to do the night stuff rather than the morning however since her bf is out of a car, she needs to take him to work as he works near her and ill take the kids, and then he needs someone to pick him up from work so im the taxi again.

usually he isnt a problem but hes out of a car for a day or so while its in the shop for repairs.

but i always take the kids of a morning, sometimes have them on an arvo and some weekends but the kids have sporting stuff most weekends so im with them anyway as i help by volunteering.

wow sorry that was a mouthful and ahalf! @Bella1978

yeh they love use and abuse @Bella1978 hoping to change that slowly though.

i was doubting my ability to be a carer earlier and thought about running- up and leave.

your mums lucky to have you too, your rather loveley and caring

@outlander
I believe it takes a very special person to be a carer 😘 ❤ i hope you can take a step back and have more time for you. A lot of the time we fall into a carers role. Quite overwhelming but we do the best we can.
