Something’s not right

coming off pain killers (off the shelves in chemist)

coming off pain killers (off the shelves in chemist)

im starting this thread coz it cant just be me that is suffering from the withdrawals of being forced to stop these pain killers. im sure there has to be othere people out there that are suffering the same as me.

iv been on the pain killers since i was 14 years old and now at the age of 32 i have been forced to stop. in the end i had to take large amounts for them to do anything for me. I WAS REALLY ATTICTED TO THEM AND I STILL AM. i would take them everyday for no reason at all. just coz they were there and i could take them and then i always needed more and more.

my body is suffering now . i have major body ache that i cant control. i have runny nose. im just suffering badly.

if anyone has been on the real drugs in there life time ......it like that . that come down. iv been on the heavy drugs back in the days and i know how it was like coming down of a drug and but this is even worse.

when you come off a hard drug, you have other drugs to help you come down a bit easier. but with this pain killer . you have nothing to replace it with. nothing. and thats what makes it so hard.

now i have other meds that i can take extra of......but that will fk up my already mental health.

in the mean time i have been trying to find my other meds/drugs to compensate with what i am going through. and i will continue to do that until i go to the dr and get some more.

im so aditted to it that i dont think that i can stop. i know the doc will give me more. without no questions.

so if there is anyone else going through the same thing please comment . or if you have any hint or tips to get through this i would be very gratefull. thanks bubbles

Hi @Bubbles3

I think this thread is really important and I'm glad you're starting it. With new laws in place, painkillers can't be purchased over the counter - so I'm sure others are going through the same thing.

There are some resources to help with addiction to different types of painkillers, one example is Turn To Help and there are treatments to help.

I would really encourage to be safe if you're trying other medications. It's not 'like for like', so it can cause a lot of problems. I really hope you can talk to your GP about helping you through this withdrawal, rather than asking for more painkillers.

Does anyone else have any tips or have been in the same situations?

well i just did the wrong thing

i went and got more. i found 2 presciptions for the pain killers. so i went to the chemist and got them. but this time im going to come off them slowly. iv ask the chemist to keep the rest (as i get in bulk, 9 packets) and i only taken so much a day and then reduce it each week.

and i get some other stuff so soon im going to be body ache free. no more pain in my body and mind.

and thanks @NikNik for your support on this, even though iv just fked it up for myself again

Hi @Bubbles3
Don't be too hard on yourself! You asked the chemist to keep the rest - which is a big step.
