Re: catching up

Hey awesome guy just talking to the best friend eva.

its very tense here. Mum keeps undermining me infront of the girls.

im so tired of getting confused. I cab never remember the day month date it doesn't make any difference how offen I check. Mum gets so angry with me. Says in doing it on purpose the harder I try the more I forget.
I can't keep up with the bills. Ive lost so much of my memory it scares me.

j do experience anything like this

Re: catching up

Haha, that is what i like to see, some enthusiasm 🙂

Oh what a shame, i thought thing might have calmed down their.

Yes i know how it is my angel, i don't even know what the date is either, i try to pay bills as soon as i get them in the mail so i don't forget, yes stress will help increase memory loss, it is part of our anxiety, i don't know what it is but i think their has to be some form of the mind protecting it's self so it shuts off memories, i know for the past year now i have lost all track of time, year, month, day, hour and minute, i am forever checking my diary, it is very frustrating.

Karen, the memory is their, you have not lost it, it is just your mind is racing so much the memories get filed away. i get very confused too Karen, i find it very stressful when too much is going on all at once, i can only do one thing at a time now, where i used to be able to multi task many things in one day.

Karen, it is like that the more pressure you put on yourself to remember the more you forget.

you are not alone with this, i have it bad too.

Re: catching up

Thanks Jacques I knew you would understand.
I feel like im going crazy the girls make fun of me because I ask them a couple times a day what day it is and sometimes I think they are joking because ive lost the previous days.

I used to be so organised one the ball never forgot anything.

I don't know how ill manage alone.

Re: catching up

yes it is difficult, sometimes i get on mum's nerves because i ask the same question several times because it does not register, maybe it is having a lack of concentration, you are into watches right? maybe get a nice watch with the date and the time, my new divers watch has the day month and time on it, os i don't look so obvious when i need to know what day it is, would this be an option?

hugs my angel, i know what it is like, i used to be able to multi task so well, now i can't even spend 5 min on the computer without losing concentration, my memory is so damaged, maybe lack of sleep can do it too?

Karen, it is the fear of the unknown, you are a good mum, when you get into your new home, setup and office area, have a bills box and a bills payed box, that is what i do to keep track of what is oweing.

Re: catching up

Hi @Jacques and @hiddenite,

Try not to be too hard on yourself for not remember things. When things get stressful, our minds are so busy attending to things that it can be like it's on overload. Often when you're not conscious thinking about things, our minds can still tick away in the back of our minds.

I'm terribly forgetful when I feel overloaded with stress or emotions. When things get like, I find writing lists, and toning down expectations of myself can be helpful.

Re: catching up

Perhaps you won't be able to convince you're mum - she sounds like she's being pretty critical of you, but you don't need to be.

Be kind to yourself, Karen. You are doing all that you can. Remember, that having anxiety affects the mind and the memory. It's like having an illness. I'm not sure you'd be hard on yourself if you couldn't walk, or got tired walking after having a broken leg.

Your mum might not get you but we get you on here.

Re: catching up

Many people are afraid of it, and I can see why.

From what I understand, it's not like how it was in the past. It's improved a lot these days. It's not for everyone, but some reckon it works.

Actually @roseasterisk has written a post about ECT right here
